@MarineDevilDog33 I agree. What WWE could really use is some competition to push them a little harder. Real competition...TNA is not real competition. Even then, they still won't match what was going on back in the 80s.
@frrrrrunkis What thay need more badly is gimicks. Nowadays nearly all raslas are guys in speedos with a rock hymn, which is getting boring. Back in the days some was to, but not (nearly) all.
They should do an updated modern version of this video using todays roster. Maybe if they do another old school Monday Night Raw. I wonder if Kofi Kingston could belt out a tune like Koko? XD
@HGeneAnthony I did some digging and you're right, when Keep on Dancin' was made, he was a back up singer. It was in the late 60s early 70s that he took over lead duties.
@CFrench386 I actually remember hearing he took over the band but when he did they didn't have any hits. Not his fault they were just 1 hit wonders. He's got a very good voice. I heard this song when I was a kid and I remember he stood out.
WWF was best during the 80s. I loved this as a teenager and still do. I miss the long feuds. LOL this video has a lot of the old school Saturday morning jobbers.
@wvoutlaw2009 : I know all this. What I 'meant' was that I though he had left already. I don't remember seeing him and Rotundo on WWF television in '88.
I remember being a kid and seeing them perform this on the slammys I was kind of scared of virgil, that fool looked liked he was gonna kill hogan through out the whole live performance! Then I seen the video and it showed him singing, and it killed the tough guy image I had of him, I was like that nigga singing he a pussy lol yell
The honkytonk man is one of the greatest character actor wrestlers of all time. He legitimitely has to be in the top 5 of all time. I still almost piss myself laughing from wrestlemania 4 in his promo when he told bob euker, "you're not lookin for vanna white, you're lookin for somethin else" "i'm gonna keep my ic title if i have to backstroke all the way up the mississippi river WHOOOOO"
Part of thinks this would be a good song for an opposing team to parody in the super bowl or something.Maybe even a MMA entrance, even the copyright thing would derail it
I don't know who made the call on this song, but it was brilliant to have Koko B. Ware and Jimmy Hart (two guys that actually had backgrounds in music) carry the weight of the chorus in the early 2/3rd of the song.
I had Piledriver the Music Videos on VHS when I was like 9 and used to watch this for hours, Koko had some vocals!!! Nice guy, I met the bird man in person. Jimmy Hart not bad vocals either. Long Live the wwF!
Damn I can't get enough of this stuff. Koko deserves the introduction just for singing this song. So catchy. I would actually prefer the present day WWE to return to the tone if the 80's WWF. I miss the unique characters. Everybody had their own thing and was a star
why don't wrestlers do something like this again it was funny and fun. I dislike what there doing going PG but atleast do the thing that the golden age was doing.
I hate to say it but I like this music video quite a bit. The tune is typical 80's electronic groove and the song is catchy. The amount of talent that the WWF had in the late 80's was tremendous partly because they had been plucked from other defunct promotions most notably, Memphis, CWF and Mid-South. Unfortunately these guys were cartoonized.
kaneohe47 yes I agree they were cartoonized to a certain degree but that was the popular formula for pro wrestling in the 80's.....Good guys (faces) VS Bad guys (heels) and wrestlers generally accepted to be on the same side of that split didn't usually fight each other. Of course they still use faces and heels today but there's less of an alliance to just one side. Faces can wrestle faces and heels can wrestle heels. Personally I like the newer formula, it makes for some epic matches.
i think that those who were born in the early 80s were really lucky. First when they were a child, they can enjoy WWE 'Disneyland' and then when they grow up they can watch WWE attitude.
what an awesome wrestling era. I grew up to the stuff.
