This don't seem to go very well. On a ride to West Heath and back, which has no hills as such, It seemed to die a death and labour whenever the driver dropped it into 4th.
@LanceMcKenzie1 sooooooooooo wrong!! We all have our loves/hates, you happen to hate this nearly as much as a certain Park Lane Driver who was instrumental in finally getting it put out of it's semi preservation status but thankfully onwards to Aston Manor. Too many happy memories of them, top bus!

I remember the red vinyl seats and the arm rests on the lower saloon back seat! And how the saloon lights followed the curve that ran from front to rear, And the driver had a power point in the cab for his shaver!!
The good old days of WMPTE come back with sounds of 4041 & some of them @ Wythall too. Great sounds the Fleetlines had. Nice to have some these in preservation now
@dgr64 Like quite a few early "standard" Fleetlines these ie 4036-4050 entered service at Wolves from new but soon headed to WB but , as I remember, 4047-4050 were back in Wolves or on loan very often in 1977 ish, the whole batch returning to Park Lane in around 1981 worse for wear but ace all the same, complementing the last few "Jumbos" before less interesting "real" standards flooded PL.
Can't beat the nice steady thrum from a Gardner :)

This bus is as empty as when it was in service.
It was a piece of shit then and is a piece of shit now, everyone hated it.
