in the US we fox hunt on all private land and have a scout on an ATV patrol the property with a shotgun loaded with salt shot. We had one incident last year while fox hunting and the protesters were arrested and fined for trespassing. Lucky for them, the police got there faster then our security patrol.

I find fox hunting sad in it's entirety, what satisfaction is there in chasing some poor creature miles for it to be ripped apart by dogs. in the US we fox hunt on all private land and have a scout on an ATV patrol the property with a shotgun loaded with salt shot. We had one incident last year while fox hunting and the protesters were arrested and fined for trespassing. Lucky for them, the police got there faster then our security patrol.

I find fox hunting sad in it's entirety, what satisfaction is there in chasing some poor creature miles for it to be ripped apart by dogs. Why can't these sad people take up a real sport, if there such tough guys how about boxing, or would that be deemed unfair as the opponent could fight back. I've competed in sports my whole life, the entire point is to feel victory over an opponent, the tougher the challenge the bigger the thrill, all I see in huntsmen is complete cowardice.

I can assure you that since the Hunting Ban I have found more foxes shot and dumped under hedges; sometimes as many as 5 a week.
Shooting is indiscriminate with no closed season; I have found lactating vixens shot, which means that a litter of cubs will be dead underground. At least Hunting has a closed season.
The Hunting Ban has done nothing to save foxes; more are really being killed now than before.

saying 'don't do it' is all well and good until you are being hired to do it, and although anyone who shoots wants a clean kill, they cant always get one. mr fox might move unexpectedly, or whatever you are resting on could move as you pull the trigger, these things happen. the most sure fire way to deal with foxes is either lamping with lurchers, or terrierwork, the latter was championed by animal rights groups in the argument against gassing, you lot should stop contradicting yourselves...bye.

As for whirrier, after a bad start (the half arsed comment 'Let me help you out here, the Hunting Act came into force in 2005.') we had a decent exchange - you could learn a lot from him, we disagreed but were civil and rational. Give it a go you might like it.

Hahaha!! I have always seen class as an intrinsic and valuable part of the hunting debate with people such as yourself, so frankly I see my comment as very much 'on message'. However, judging by your response I was obviously correct about your upbringing. If I am not, then I sincerely apologise. On another unrelated note, the loss of the government assisted places scheme was extremely biting in certain sectors of society. Maybe you could dress up in 'camo' gear and demonstrate against that?

Interesting. The Countryside Alliance deliberately pushed the braying hoorays into the background as they rightly felt that no-one would have much sympathy for their plight, but you're detemined to ignore their sensible PR strategy and push hunting as an upper class pursuit. YAWN.......Seeing as ACPO recently decided to remove hunting from it's list of policing priorities and the Conservative party (the next likely government) is looking as if it will make repealing The 2005 Hunting Act a manifesto commitment, it appears as if not only have you lost the moral argument, but that you have lost the political and legal ones too.
