  • San Antonio! :) Appreciate the real sound instead of all background music.

BTW... Watch out for electric/telephone wires.

  • @pqxxedf Do you fly?

  • @ecarter9 Inline skating is like having wings on my feet, but No I don't do paramotoring. It looks thrilling, and it's fascinating. I can see that battery technology will do wonders for your sport. Battery capacity versus weight is everything for flying. Battery capacity to weight ratio is important but less critical here. I am enjoying the videos and picking on the only obvious flaw. Looks like it could be a great form of transportation, a practical alternative to jet packs.

  • Hi Eddie

Great story mate ... glad you're now happy in the sky ;-)

    Fly Safe

    Turbo

  • HOLY CRAP, your instructor yelling at you like that!! i would have fired him!

  • @kinggtupper I left it in since this was my personal "Memories" video and I found that very funny. He was a good guy and that was the only time he raised his voice and it was really because on my first flight he wanted altitude for safety and I was selectively ignoring him. That first flight was so amazing and intense for me, I was comfortable being only slightly above tree line. He wanted higher. I have to defend him on this one. So not his fault.

  • But Funny as SHIT !

  • You guys keep up these videos, I may have to get into PPG and move to Texas. ;-)

  • @generalripper1964 You would love it. I flew an airplane for 8 years which was neat and cool. This is totallly different and much more fun! It is one of the best things I have ever done! You should at least find someone to take you up "tandem" and let you experience it to see if it is right for you.

  • Great video. Keep them coming and stay safe. :-)

  • it would also be nice to read what each phase cost you? I know it might be too much to ask but valuable information to everybody. Each equipment package cost? training? broken equipment repairs?

Nice video and nice to see that now you are enjoying your new flying experience.

  • @ucanfly2 Thanks for the comments. I had never thought of adding cost. I can tell you PPG is a lot cheaper than owning an airplane! My brother bought the Craigslist package which of equipment. Edel Power Atlas wing, Fresh Breeze Engine, Sigma Reserve all for $3,000 (guessing). We I took wings he took motor. We shopped training and went to Florida at a cost of $1,100 each, plus accommodations and food. There we rented any equipment we used at $80 a day. I only rented one day.

  • I came home with my 3 days training and I bought a Nirvana Rodeo to go with wings. I bought it demo with around 25 hours on it. I had a lot of issues with carb, starter and of course cage would break and prop would break with any minor bumps. Over $2,000 in repairs to it over course of ownership Feb - Dec. I paid central tx instructor $600 to "finish me up" and it was the biggest waste of money I spent. I got very little real help from him and felt he was more of a dealer than instructor.

  • After about another 6 months and my accident on the Beach. I knew my issue was glider control and always had been. I sought out Dell Schanze based on his videos of instruction and I knew how he taught, what he taught, and length of time and knowledge in teaching. I paid another 2,000 for 2 weeks, all equipment included AND the best part. "If i broke it i did not pay". That was important. Plus cost of accommodations. Dell's Training fit what I knew I needed and my style of learning.

  • I really think I would have been better off going to Dell in the first place. He was my first choice of instructors, but I took the "lower cost" approach and it ended up costing me more in the long run. To be fair, I did not complete the Florida training, but we couldn't because winds were too high for him to teach. Dell taught in up to 18mph winds. I learned higher wind wing handling.

I left Galveston buying a Flat Top Ninja. I came back a week later and bought the small K2 wing to go with

  • @ecarter9 Great information. The important part is that you are now satisfied with the equipment you own and the training you got. The cost is what you were willing to pay. I see the price of the first two sets of equipment but can you share the price you paid for the latest equipment? Flat Top Ninja was how much? New Small K2 was how much?

  • @ucanfly2 Agreed. I am satisfied with what I have and where I am at the moment. Don't get me wrong, I still have oops moments. Heck 2 days ago I went to reverse launch, and fell backwards. Just lost footing. NO damage to anything, Got up and Flew. I have also found the one invaluable advice I got from one of the instructors. Do NOT get in a hurry! Also I have to remember to make sure wing is stable before turning to go (ie in a hurry).

  • Cost of Ninja is around 7,300 new. K2 is 3,800 new. I did work a trade on my Rodeo for Ninja so I did not have to shell out the full cost. But I did shell out full cost of the small K2. I still have my old Large K2 which is my spare wing and I sold some equip on Ebay to help recoup some money. Someone also commented that it appeared I "Rocketed up" on the Ninja. YES. It has serious power. Yesterday I climbed 450-500 fpm at times full throttle. I think it is louder than the Rodeo too.

  • @ecarter9 thanks for all the information, it will help others think it over as they decide what their approach will be.

  • Great video I really enjoyed your journey, I too had a first time foot drag go bad see the end of my wipeout video. I should have asked Dell to teach me that maneuver before my initial training was complete. I fly a k-2 XL and a flattop ninja. Hope to see you around.Keith

  • That was really cool including the well told personal story. Thank you for posting!

  • Thank you so much for posting. You provided your impression and experiences with various equipment and instructors. I am a private pilot but haven't flow in several years and looking into this sport. I am interesting in more of your insight and wisdom. Keep it up!

  • My goal was to show the good, the bad, and the ugly. I really have enjoyed this sport and I am glad I got into it. I know everyone has a unique set of experiences, and maybe someone will pick something useful up. I hope one day to fly some of the cool places up north. In the mean time, I intend to burn up the air in south Texas and along the Texas beaches.

  • Really nice video man. Very interesting seeing how people get into the sport and what they have to go through to find the right gear and instruction and really get to where they have the correct skills and confidence to really enjoy the sport like you see all the WPPGA pilots enjoying. Hopefully more people will hook up with WPPGA instructors the first time so they don't have to do all the experimenting you did to just find correct training and up to date equipment. Now... lets go flying!!
