ZAKIR ji is a fantastic tabla player but a BIG lier....His whole family is based in US as far as we know over past 30 years..His whole family is US passport holders...His wife (Tony) : a US Citizen..kids (2 daughters) were raised in US only..He comes to India only for concerts...He doesn't stay in India like Ustad Ali Akbar Khan or even Pt.Ravi Shankar.. ...Come on Zakir ji......Still..We like u...

What an ignorant and ridiculous thing to say! Just because Zakir Hussain is famous among the layman does not mean that other great tabla artists dont exist. It is disrespectful to an endless list of Tabla artists out there.

e.g Anindo Chaterjee, Swapan Choudhury, Ilmas Hussain, Tari Khan, Akram Khan, Nayan Ghosh etc etc

I think 'dominated' in the sense of exactly what you said. He's the most famous tabla player now his father has died. I do agree there's soooo many fantastic players to see, hence my clips of lots of others.

I agree with you. Zakirji is a really nice Tabla player, sure he is a master, but he is not alone.

He is only more famous because he had connection with the international scene in his early years, that's all. He dominate nothing.

Too many people just get "Zakir" in their mouth, like if he is the true God of Tabla...

What about Anindo Chatterjee, Amhed Jan Thirakwa, Amir Hussain Khan, Allah Rakha, Nizabuddin Khan, Tari Khan, Samta Prasad Ji, Kishan Maharaj etc
