@PersnicketyPony Not every horse will buck all of the time, or will want to, so those ones usually go to people who want to break them in to something else, or unfortunately, they can go to slaughter if no one buys them.
@PersnicketyPony Well, they usually start around 2 years old. At 2, they're led into bucking chutes along with the rest of the herd, and they have dummies put on their back along with the flank strap, and then they're turned loose. They get the feel of having a flank, a rider, and pick up men working with them. They usually don't have riders on their back until they're 3 or 4. There's not a whole lot to it, but a lot of horses won't buck like that, so those ones are usually sold to other people
@PersnicketyPony Well when any athlete is trying his/her best to do anything, are they making pretty faces? No. These horses love what they do. If I were to actually train a horse though for anything other than bronc riding though, then yes, natural horsemanship. However, these horses are bred and trained to buck riders off, and they are good at it.
@PersnicketyPony Bronc riding allows horses to keep their spirit. These horses aren't broken in to ride. They're let loose to do whatever they want for 8 seconds.
@ChinAndJuultje I wasn't making a big problem of it, I was just informing you. How you take it is your way to see it though. I meant not disrespect, even though you showed disrespect to me.
@CountryHouseGent it does a little bit it just inhances their buckin but its mostly their instincts because broncs are just unbroke horses they arent used to bein rode by a man thats why they buck the strap just makes them buck harder to try and get it off its just like bulls its on tight enough to where it wont come off but lose enough to make them think they can buck it of
@TheMarine1227 Sometimes they're broken horses. lol, I have a stupid Thoroughbred that will buck if you spur him this way even without spurs and a flank strap. He's got high withers too, so he's quite the ride when he starts bucking. I practice with him occasionally just to get a feel for everything. I always have to throw a saddle on him afterwards after though and calm him down so he doesn't turn into an actual bucking horse, lol.
Wow they shock the horses?? Yea right looks like someone needs to do some research before making an opinion on it. And it isn't cruel to the horses in any way it's just thier instincts that people are using to make sport. The people get hundreds time more battered then the horses! They look like ragdolls it's rather amusing actually... :)
@Jessalyn7ate9 thats wat most people dont understand about rodeos we cowboys get the shit beat out of us and they say we abuse the animals why pay 10 grad fer a horse or bull then abuse it tell me the sense in that

at 0:16 is great ride it explains when to spur im a upcoming bareback rider and im getting some great info but if theres anyone who bareback rides send me a message with info
@12GaugeFaceLife i have the highest respect for yer dad im a saddle bron bare back and bullrider but anyman who makes it to the rodeo hall of fame is a damn good rider
Their shocking the horses? Pahahahaha. For one it's natural for an unbroke horse to buck when it's got something on it's back, two they wear spurs which make the horses buck more/ harder and three in no way is it unfair for the horse. They aren't being harmed in any way
@0walsh haha no man obviously you have no idea about what really goes on down thier in the chute's the horses buck because they have what they call a flank strap on thier flanks and its encased in a rubber insert and in no way harms the animal they are never shocked and without the strap some of them make really good trail horses and most pick up men ride ex saddle bronc horses.... it does not ruin the animal or harm them i know this is an old post just wanted to clear that up a bit
you problalby could if you wanted to!, yes i am a huge rodeo fan to even though my name says hockey lol im Canadian, and bareback and saddle bronc and tie down roping are my favorite events

So you mean to say that it has nothing to do with the leather strap at the back of the horse, wrapped tightly round his bollocks?
You'll be saying the horses enjoy it next.
