You're right, it is cruel. And not just because the donkeys have to carry around people far too large for the burros. They are trucked in, scared and confused, sometime long distances, with food and water withheld so they don't have "accidents" in the gym. Then people ride and yank them around slippery floors with loud noises and bright lights. Accidents happen for both humans and donkeys, sometimes serious. And it promotes a circus mentality to kids that its ok to abuse their fellow animals.
