I havent really heard anyone try cover parts of this song beforee, but yea i tried to mix a bunch of different versions together, so would be hecticcc if you could check it out on my channel :) Nothing even begins to compare with jb, cos he's absolutely nuts, but keen to hear what u think! Cheeerssss
It takes alot of experience with the guitar as well as in life to create an instrumental with such feeling and emotion in it. It sounds like John Butler put his entire soul and existance in this song. Gotta love that.
This is an astounding piece of music whatever your preferences. I am a more classical person but the pulsing energy of this piece is incredible. To quote a line from the movie Amadeus, "I did not think music like this was possible!"
im still getting used to the new look, i mean short hair first and now gauges? not saying it looks bad just so different from old him. but his music is still soooo amazing and inspiring
I still remember this exactly as it happened. And when I look back on it I feel warm and happier inside, it reminds me of one of the best summers of my life and my amazing time at Lolla that year. Jon Butler Trio definitely made that a music festival to remember.
that is what we all are...from dust to dust..we are made of such stuff as dreams are made on and this little life is rounded with a sleep...Shakespeare
I WAS THERE!!!! ...and after the show hes was chilling on the street behind the stage in a golf cart...just him and his buddy...got to shake his hand...sweet moment for me being a guitarist and all...
I was second row, my favorite song performed at lollapalooza by far. John is a great festival performer. He has fun on stage with the crowd, doesnt try to cram songs in, he jams out every song its awesome a must see!!!

no offense, but he isn't doing much himself, those concerts actually put a drain on the economy realistically looking at it, and the environment still get affected by it... but whatever i love Johnny B as much as the next person
How the fuck does it put a drain on the economy? Local shops and businesses get maybe triple the customers in chicago, not to mention, ticket prices and the transits. Chicago is a booming metropolis to begin with, but when 60,000 more people pretty much take over downtown chicago's hotels, food & drinks joints, and transportation including busses and subways. Not to mention the vendors who sponsor the concert and sell of bottled water, beer, food...a lot of money went into that concert...
I had the pleasure of seeing them this very day! Let me say this performance is so inspiring,, words cannot describe how I feel listening to this, right now!! I've watched this at least 30 or so times tonight! Bless you guys for making such powerful and moving music!
@pureashoney I remember seeing this number. We had just wandered in at the end of the song before this, sat down because we liked the sound, and were left absolutely speechless. What an incredible moment.
@pureashoney I also was there. :) . left the festival after his show and walked on the street behind the stage, and there he was sitting in a golf cart with one of his buddies... got to shake his hand... havnt washed it since... haha jk.
I WAS THERE, and I shook his hand after the performance...i thanked him for a great show and said thanks alot... i wish i got a picture or autograph but i just walked away cause i didn't wanna be an annoying fan...but what a fukin honour
one of my favourite performances of the festival... i saw him outback on the street after his performance just chilling in a golf cart with a buddy... i was in shock, not just because i was gonna meet him but because he didn't have a crowed of people around him... but i still had the privilege of shaking those magical hands...one of the highlights of my weekend...
one of the best live solos ive seen, that and the fact that i was baked off my ass when i saw this made it an amazing fucking song, i wish they played longer than an hour

this song is so amazing, i saw the John Butler Trio at the Pavilion in Boston August 5th, and Ocean was easily the best song he played.

I'm pretty sure JB isn't human, because no human can play guitar like that. Ergo, he is a robot.

What a piece of work is a man, how noble in reason, how
infinite in faculties, in form and moving how express and
admirable, in action how like an angel, in apprehension how like
a god! the beauty of the world, the paragon of animals—and yet,
to me, what is this quintessence of dust?
