@KASHLAMDA I think spinks did enough to take the tilte,he dominated the early and middle rounds.Holmes came on late,but it was a little too late.I think spinks deserved the title.He boxed masterfully,in and out combos,right crosses and left hooks.Holmes seemed to underestimate spinks for too long,and paid the price.

Like Ali, Holmes got jinxed by a Spinks to lose the heavyweight crown. Unlike Ali, Holmes lost decisively and could not avenge his loss. The aging Holmes had no where near the speed and reflexes of Spinks, who saw nearly all of his punches coming. He didn't respect his power so much either: not afraid to turn his back on him, or mixed it up. I score 12-0-3 for Spinks (a shutout against Holmes). Spinks won 3,4,6-15, with 1,2 and 5 a draw. On the 10-point-must system, it was 150-138.

Yeah, Spinks won this fight fair and square. Holmes got outboxed, let alone outworked. Holmes was past his best for sure, but imagine if he went up against a light heavy like Ezzard Charles in this fight? Holmes would have been killed. You can't exploit your size if you don't throw.

i think it was a very close fight and spinks deserved the decision but holmes was not really hurt. both fighters were not really hurt. maybe spinks got hurt once by a body shot but it was not that serious, he just sucked it in.

I don't know if I'm seeing a completely different fight than most of you people, but I had Holmes winning the fight 143-142. I gave rounds 11-14 all to Holmes, and those were the rounds that the commentators seemed to be knocking on him the most. I don't know. Maybe I need to go back and look at them again.

@corytclark I had spinks ahead 8 rounds to 3 going into the 12th.Holmes looked like he was just stalking spinks with a jab,and looking for a sunday punch the whole fight,while spinks landed combos galore.Holmes looked like a corpse in this fight,i don't know if he underestimated spinks,maybe.Anyway,i did give holmes 3 of the last 4 rounds,but by then,i think spinks knew he just had to be wary,and be safe.

SPINKS WAS A GREAT FIGHTER. PEOPLE SHOULD FORGET ABOUT THE TYSON FIGHT AND REMEMBER THE GREAT THINGS MICHAEL ACHIEVED THROUGH OUT HIS GREAT CAREER.

@KlitschkosRShemales Agreed. Also, look at the quality of opposition Spinks defeated versus that of Holmes. In stopping Yaqui Lopez and Marvin Johnson, Spinks had already defeated a higher quality of opposition before winning the championship than Holmes did in his entire career. Had Spinks been a natural heavyweight, Holmes would have gone into the fight as a huge underdog. Also, Spinks won an Olympic gold medal, while Holmes couldn't get past Duane Bobick in the Olympic trials.
