Mongol cavalry are too strong in this game. I was fought them on a bridge as Scotland. I had six units of noble pikemen forming two extremely dense spear walls, one just behind the other, at my end of the bridge, and they were still soon overcome.

The Mongols didn't have heavy cavalry. They won battles because of tactics, lightness and mobility, and accurate and powerful bows and arrows. If they had met the knights head on, they would have lost, and they knew it, so they devised tactics that took advantage of that lightness and mobility. European knights were physically stronger, but too heavy and slow and basically sitting ducks for Mongol arrows.
The Mongols did have heavy cavalry in the form of lancers armored in steel coat of plates adopted from their conquest of Song China. They just didn't have a lot - most of their army was light cavalry so the perception is they didn't have heavy cavalry.
They did have heavy cavalry..and they could meet the knights head on and win. Hell they fought stronger opponents such as the Jin dynasty with its Iron Buddhas ( essentially tanks of the middle ages with man and horse covered in two layers of lamellar armour) To say they one out of lightness is simply absurd.

Mongol cavalry are too strong in this game. I was fought them on a bridge as Scotland. I had six units of noble pikemen forming two extremely dense spear walls, one just behind the other, at my end of the bridge, and they were still soon overcome.

The Mongols didn't have heavy cavalry. They won battles because of tactics, lightness and mobility, and accurate and powerful bows and arrows. If they had met the knights head on, they would have lost, and they knew it, so they devised tactics that took advantage of that lightness and mobility. European knights were physically stronger, but too heavy and slow and basically sitting ducks for Mongol arrows.

The Mongols did have heavy cavalry in the form of lancers armored in steel coat of plates adopted from their conquest of Song China. They just didn't have a lot - most of their army was light cavalry so the perception is they didn't have heavy cavalry.

Hell they fought stronger opponents such as the Jin dynasty with its Iron Buddhas ( essentially tanks of the middle ages with man and horse covered in two layers of lamellar armour) To say they one out of lightness is simply absurd.

i was the russians... camped the Dnieper river next to Kiev, waiting for the mongols to cross it.
They had roughly 15,000 men, in nine separate armies. I had rougly 2,500 men, in one army. They tried to cross the river, one by one, and my small force annihiliated them as they crossed. In other words, i crushed them, despite being outnumbered 6:1 agaisnt frickin' mongols.

I love the mongols and timurids i donwloaded a mod that lets play as timurids,mongols,aztecs,rebels,papal states. And omg timurids are awesome i umiliated the turks i put to give me 1000 florins for 10 turns in exchange of ceasefire from me.(after 10 turns i atttacked them again and again demanded money :))) ).Then they started to do not pay money so i finished them off(they had only Yerevan left).

The only part were mongols outnumbered was when they sent chines slaves to fight chinese and when they captured russian peasants and sent them as cannon fodder at russian forces

mm..the strongest Mongol military unit is not heavy cavalry, in fact, they don't have much heavy cavalry but they do have a lot light and archer cavalry, they win because of their tactics and the excellent mobility. The Mongol's archer cavalry is the best and can almost destroy any enemy in the world at that time.
