wow, ive used several of the old ones at ccad, this thing has everything i thought they should add to it, so much more user friendly. and the keyboard, yes, no more awkwardly placing your keyboard somewhere as you work.. absolutely beautiful.
@LarryBundyJr Hey Larry, not sure what you meant by this, so apologies if I'm barking up the wrong tree. If you mean 'the rotation function' as in the 'auto zoom, brush & canvas rotate functions' – it's still there! Some software is designed with these features in mind (e.g. Photoshop) which unleashes a who range of powerful workflow advantages.
@GiantDoucheNG@LarryBundyJr Ah, I see, sorry for the confusion. Rather than rotate the screen (at 24inches of HD screen, it's quite a heavy bit of kit), the 24HD gives the option of pivoting the screen. If you look at the first 30 seconds or so of the video, you can see that the Cintiq is carefully balanced, so that it can be positioned securely through a range of angles - even hanging over the desk if necessary. Hope that was a bit clearer, and thanks for the question/feedback.
Yep Great Tablet (probably the Best make for sure), but if your on a Budget and still want size! I'm selling one on eBay UK (leck865) thats affordable - 19" 1 day left on auction
all wacom products are way overpriced, although the media companies out there probably could afford it, the average user can not, i love how they take a monitor worth maybe 150 bucks max and take a wacom tablet woth about 200 bucks slap them together and all of a sudden its work 1000 bucks lol ah the joys of monopoly
@adsweaty This is one of the things I've been hearing about that is a drawback to having a Cintiq or any other graphic monitor. People have said that it is difficult to match the colors of their cintiq with their monitors.
@adsweaty The point is is that it's difficult to get both calibrated to look the same. I don't know if in your case your monitor is calibrated correctly or if it's simply your monitor. I've heard of others who've had their monitor calibrated correctly but they both don't look the same.
Hi @adsweaty. Generally speaking & straight out of the box, monitors are rarely calibrated. Some have auto-calibrate functions which may or may not be trustworthy depending on the model. The rest is entering into a really deep science of gamut /colour spaces. I have no idea what monitor your trying to calibrate to, and I don't want to condescend either but it will depend on what colour space it is/has. For example The Cintiq 24HD has a 92% Adobe RGB space. The Cinitiq 21 has a sRGB space.
@adsweaty If you're doing critical work, I'd recommend checking out some reputable calibration products (Datacoloror Colormunki etc). It will depend on whether you're working for print, web or video. Also, & this is really subtle (but needs to be taken into account) the Cintiqs may look slightly different to a standard panel due to the fact that it's tilted at a very precise angle - perfect for the artist - so this may reflect lighting in the room very differently.
@adsweaty Also, its covered in a protective, scratch-proof screen that enables drawing and pressure control usage, so if it's slightly dimmer than a broadcast grade panel, that's just a draw back of combining a Wacom tablet with a great HD monitor. Phew! That was so long YouTube wouldn't let me type it all in one go - hope it was helpful though.
I'm considering getting one of these, but I need to know a couple of crucial things that are important to my future projects. How well does Adobe Flash, Adobe Dreamweaver and 3D editing programs (i.e. 3D Studio Max) run on this thing? Is it also built for such programs other than Adobe Photoshop?
@Hcrlnd@Hcrlnd Hi there. Wacom have a software Atlas on their website, but YouTube isn't letting me paste the link here for some reason! If you head to their homepage though, click "products" > "Cintiq" > "Cintiq24HD" > "software atlas" and you'll find more information. We also have a demo model in stock that you're welcome to come and test out if you'd like more of idea of how it feels to use.
@Hcrlnd We've since asked one of our consultants to investigate this for you. Here's what he got back to me with:
"I can confirm it works perfectly with all the above apps (including 3DS Max & Maya). In fact with Flash its even better! Some software is designed with built-in features specifically for tablet users. Photoshop is pretty well known for this but I believe Flash is also designed with tablets in mind".
@flash9876543210 Hi there! The Cintiq functions like a monitor, connecting to a PC or Mac. Wacom recommend using a DVI or Display Port connection. Supported OS are: Windows® 7/Vista™/XP (32 / 64 bit) and Macintosh® OS X (version 10.5.8 or later). Hope that helps!
@carlosdlguerra Hello there, the cordless and battery-free pen (and the technology that captures the images) are Wacom-patented, though I'm not aware of an official name for this. The Cintiq 24HD pen shares some of the same technology as the Intuos4 (2,048 levels of pressure sensitivity and 2nd generation of Wacom Tip Sensor, and the Grip Pen with tilt sensitivity of 60 degrees). We certainly enjoyed putting it through its paces!
@txlec99 A couple of us took it for a test run, and were actually pretty impressed by the lack of lag - it was negligible. Do you currently work with any other Wacom hardware?
I'll struggle trying to fit this on my desk, the printer won't be too happy going on the floor lol, I'm still not sure whether to get the 21UX or the 24HD, I have an Intous4 and it's never been used by myself, I really don't know why but I think it's due to the fact I feel I may still need to use the mouse even though I'd rather say goodbye to my mouse entirely and with the 21UX or 24HD I could do that effectively.
THE ROTATION FEATURE SEEMS TO BE THE WORST PART OF THIS PRODUCT. IF ONLY THE STAND HAD A ROTATION ABILITY, IT WOULD BE PERFECT.
DIGITAL ROTATION CAN MESS EVERYTHING UP.
