The only character in the movie that I didn't understand the purpose of, can anyone explain? Why did she freak out when Donnie confront her? Actually why did Donnie confront her? I never understood herpurpose in the plotline

but at least there is one thing thats good about all this...cherita will probably be the happiest and most well adjusted person later on in life. everyone's lives have fallen apart or are falling apart but cherita (according to the director) is innocent and pure and genuine and so she really will be okay someday.

She's not really involved actually (maybe just someone who'd mourn Donnie)

but I just related to her and thought she was a nice addition to the plot.

The book thing was...well, remember the scene where he tells her, her life will be better from now on?

That's when Donnie sees his name doodled on the notebook she dropped

(as she screamed at him and ran out the door) and realises that all along she had a huge crush on him.
