  • Jay Black was the best male singer i ever heard, and is just as good in concert. His voice was a gift from God.

  • A great cover of "The Ronettes" big hit from 1964..What a song like this would do on the charts today?? No telling, but the way our country is crying for "Romance"..I bet it would go right thru the roof.. :)))

  • Yeah and Jay Black still sounds great! I just saw him in concert tonight.

  • @agentspinnaker A saw him about 10 years ago in an oldies show. When he sang "Cara Mia", he held that note in the line "My heart wants to die"

    "Diiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiieeeeie"

Yes, on the word "Die", he held that note for .... well, for about an hour!

  • @57highland I believe it... Hello to a fellow Jay Black fan !!

  • @fab4fan4ever64 Thanks. This song and one just before it (chronologically), "This Magic Moment", are the ones I personally remember the best. The others were a little before I cared about listening to the radio.

Say, who was the "other Jay" (i.e., Jay Traynor)? I never read a group bio, so I don't know. (Yes, I suppose I could Google it.) Was he someone who was in and out of the group?

  • this is soo freakin good...tks

  • Elvis Pressley's famous quote," If you want to lose your singing career, sing on stage right after Jay Black sings." Jay has one hell of a voice. Top 5 in rock history.

Roey Orbison, Freddie Mercury, Eddie Vetter and Johnny Maestro.

  • @rommel714 Did Elvis really say that? Too Cool !!

  • @fab4fan4ever64 Yes Elvis really said that about him. A well deserved comment.,

  • Jay Black un des plus grands ... Et cette note finale à arracher les larmes ;;;

  • I'd love for Jay Black and Ronnie Spector to do a duet on this song. I bet it would be awesome!

  • @trockout there you go.what a perfect idea. it would be great.

  • Sorry, Ronettes fans...this is the definitive version of this song.

  • JAY AT HIS BEST, AND I LOVE THE MUSIC IN THIS SONG IT ALL BLENDS TOGETHER SO WELL. I believe this was one was one of his best songs..

  • The Best of their era!

  • Jay Black you have the best voice out there even today

  • This song never gets old. Brings back awesome memories. I never get tired of that era of music.

  • Wonderful song and voice of Jay... great

  • A great J & the Americans song.

  • wow nice!

  • Early 1970, indeed!

  • This is such an awesome song sung by the unbelievably golden-voiced

Jay Black. Nothing even comes close to talent like that anymore!

Thank God we can still listen - and thoroughly enjoy seeing it through

    YouTube.

  • Great song! Do you have the song "NO, I DON'T KNOW HER" from 1969 for Youtube?

  • It's important to note that the lead singer on this song...and every hit they had after "She Cried" is Jay Black who is still performing but NOT with the "new" Jay & The Americans who are touring today. Jay still sells out EVERY performance he give!

  • @PutOnASweater .....am glad i read your comment...cuz am a little confuse....why is there another guy using the name....( jay ..n..the americans )...and are touring today..........when the horiginal jay the i know is still a life and singing....thanks

  • @cityhen The name "Jay & The Americans" now belongs to someone else, and they can hire anyone to be a member of the group...of course, they can't claim that the "new " Jay is Jay Black...

I saw Jay Black perform last week, and he was great!

  • @PutOnASweater ....THANK YOU FOR THE INFO....I WAS CONFUSE.......THERES A GROUP IN LATING AMERICA....CALL....MOSEDADEZ...THEY HAD A BIG HIT BACK IN THE 1970S...WITH A SONG CALL....( ERES TU )...WISH IT WAS ALSO A HIT HERE IN AMERICA THE AMERICAN STATION PLAY THE SONG.....ANY WAY....THE SAMETHING HAPPEND TO THEM....THEY ARE UNDER ANOTHER NAME...CUZ THEY CANT USE THE NAME....MOCEDADES....THATS CRAZY......BUT ANYWAY THANKS...

  • @cityhen hey! i remember the song "eres tu"!! loved it. :)

  • @furpurr the "english" version was called "touch the wind"...which is odd, as that is not what "eres tu" means. :D

  • @furpurr YOU CORRECT MY FRIEND...(.ERES TU...TOUCH THE WIND )....

  • Perfect version of this song. One of my old boyfriends loved watching me splash through rain puddles instead of walking around them.

  • Great version, great song, GREAT voice. Guys just don't belt them out like this anymore, unless they're hiding behind some affectation like a gravelly voice, or worse, some electronic effect.

  • @pweener oh heavens, not musical progress, anything but that! :)

  • This was the biggest hit by Jay & The Americans!

  • @PutOnASweater so damn beautiful. great memories. the 1970's
