  • You sound like such a lovely couple, not many men will date women/girls in wheelchairs, you have a keeper there hun. ;)

  • Just wanted to thank you for posting this. Your video, and the one it responds to, showed me a method of getting from the floor back into my chair that actually works for me (I have MD, so I don't have the upper body strength to do it the way many/most paras do it, but I do have some leg use). It's tiring and I'm sure I'll never make it look as easy as you do, but it's fantastic to know I can do it at all. Thank you, thank you, thank you.

  • I'm just now figuring out how to get out of the pool but I am fustrated by my attempts to get back in the chair. I'll work on your technique tomorrow. Should be a break through day.

  • Good luck! It will probably take a couple of weeks of practice before you feel totally comfortable and figure out where exactly to place your hands etc. but it gets a lot easier once you get use to it. Let me know how it goes!

  • Great vid. I've been working on my floor to chair transfer and had not tried your method. You make it look so easy. Thanks for the video I'll be working with my trainer on this method soon.

  • Thanks! I don't have he triceps to pull myself up when sitting on the floor in front of my chair. The way I did it in the video is a lot more stable and once your chest is leaning against the cushion you are free to move your arms wherever you need them to be.

  • hello all l am paralysed too and you look so great God bless you it's good that you have boy friend ,l wish l have girlfriend

  • Why are you in a wheelchair? (I was paralized from my wwaist down and had it my whole life)

  • I hat Transverse Myelitis in 2004. I've been a c6 complete quad since.

  • What kind of cushions do you have for the seat and the back? They look very comfy. I'm getting a Jay J2 for my new chair that is suppose to be showing up in a few weeks.

  • I have an ADI carbon fiber backrest. You can get a 10" or 16" high one, but I got a 13" one made. You just have to ask them.

In that video I was using my Varilite Evolution cushion, but I usually use a Roho Quadtro high profile. It had a leak at the time.

I also have a Jay2 that I use on my spare chair because it's too big for me regular one. They are really good cushions, but are very heavy and you have to be very careful you don't bottom out and knead the gel often.

  • Does it happen to you occasionally that people INSIST on helping you assemble or disassemble your chair when you're getting it out of the car or putting it babck in?

They insist, but they always screw it up, and I patiently watch them screw it up. When they're finished screwing it up, I fix it, and that's when they realize they should have let me do it in the first place. LOL

  • Oh all the time! I try to be as nice as I can about it because I might actually need someone's help later and if you are mean no one will try. Or someone else may need their help and they won't because of the "attitude" they got the last time they tried.

If I don't have the time for "help" I usually just say "no thanks" and keep moving.

  • LOL I dont blame you. If i coludnt feel it I would be checking too. you can never know when you are constantly scooting all over the floor. imagine someone coming over and they say that your pants are off that would be so embarrassing lol

  • LOL it's happened more than once! Luckily only around my boyfriend though. Hmmm, makes me wonder...

  • You tuck your body in? Whats that? Do you try to keep it stiff or something? And About the pants it seems like you have to keep pulling them up because when you scoot on the floor you probably scoot the pants off little by little LOL. And I love it when you scoot on the floor.

  • I mean I keep my legs close to the rest of my body and lean forward. LOL I'm a bit obsessive about checking my pants. I can't feel if they are coming off or not!

  • Oh I get it now. And when you are scooting foward on the floor you have to keep putting your legs out. That seems like alot of work! It must be hard to manuver around on the floor when you have to tuck in your legs and pull them out. you do it gracefully and make it look easy lol.

  • When I'm scooting forward I use my head to balance a lot and keeping my body tucked in like that helps with it also.

It is a lot of work, but once you find the best way that works for you and practice it gets easier.

Moving that way also helps your pants stay on! LOL!

    Thanks for the comment!

  • Why do you keep tucking your legs in?

  • Thanks for the question.

It's easier to move around when my legs are closer to my body because I don't have to drag them against the carpet then.

  • I just without meaning to scared the heck out of my wife yesterday... I decided to re-tile the tiny 4x5 foot foyer to our home with these stone look stick on tiles...

I could not get to the phone due to me leaving it in the cradle and me having to keep working to keep the goofball cats from getting the little sticky pieces, and other stuff all over them...

So I can relate to always being up to something. I pay for these things as now I am at level 9 out of ten pain... O,o OUCH.

  • I'd proibably end up sticking myself to the floor or something LOL! Cat hair and tiles just don't go well together.

I never remember to take the phone out of the cradle, and by the time I get to it from the floor whoever called is freaking out that something horrible happened.

  • Your boyfriend sounds like a fun guy. How much does your chair weigh...it seems like it is pretty light?

  • Yes he is, but you never know what he'll be up to next lol!

My wheelchair is made of titanium and carbon fiber and weighs 18 lbs with wheels, backrest and everything included.

  • Love the shirt!

  • Thanks! My boyfriend got it for me. LOL so many people have made comments about it, but I still get a few people who get really insulted by it. (Who are not disabled themselves).
