  • "....but if baby I'm the bottom, you're the top!"

    brilliant.

  • Anybody remember the Heinz ketchup commercial from the 80s that used this tune?

  • i love this manhatin gives me that feeling of an age i never knew ,it feels great like im the top.

  • i love cole porter songs but the truth is the name could write but not sing

  • @MrDougindixie

    I love his voice.

  • Geez, let's hope Cole Porter has passed on. He was born in 1891!

  • is cole porter dead

  • @BIGCAMLABELLA21 Tragically, Cole Albert Porter left this world in 1964.

  • lets annoy all his fans---Fallout 3 rules!!

  • @RyanVonFleming

This one was actually in BioShock.

  • @mrbobmanbob

    love both of the games

  • Cole Porters lyrics and scores changed popular music forever!

  • Wow that's really cool. Some people prefer their songs all static-e.

  • Working as intended. Can't believe it!

  • Is this music from Fallout or Boishock?

  • @Vildasnaga Bioshock

  • @DeathofMarco Thanks, I feel rather silly finding about great old songs through videogames but still:

great music + great game = a great time

  • Makes me happy

  • i think my favourite version of his is by leslie hutchinson, this one's nice too though

  • awesome. : )

  • muito bom. nilopolis rj

  • Great old song. They sung this all the time on MASH. :)

  • And how about that analog tuner? A classic! The whole set-up brings back so many memories.

  • Cole Porter was one of the masters of scansion, the word that means how syllables and notes are put together in verse. I am impressed beyond my ability to express a superlative...

  • If this Magnavox has a STEREO/Mono switch... play this record on MONO. It should relieve some of the hiss on 78s... if not... lower the treble and raise the bass to your taste. Otherwise.. very rare to hear Cole Porter singing his own songs. This Victor record is a late 30's re-issue... if it was the original pressing... it would have the gold scroll label~

  • 76 years ago! That's a feckin' long time.

  • I didn't know the references to Mickey Mouse and Gandhi were in the original version, I thought it was added in the version from Night and Day with Cary Grant. Thanks for uploading this!

  • 78? Dang, now THAT'S period.

Wish I could find the notes for this.

  • i wish i lived back then...

  • Not much of a piano player, not much of a vocalist, but listen to the tune and the incredible wit is there anyone around today who could write lyrics that startlingly original -listen to the word pictures , Camembert cellophane, pepsodent, mickey mouse, roxy usher. Cole your in a class of your own

  • BIOSHOCK!

  • Other version Sucks this one is the best!!

  • nice Magnavox!

  • Now they would prohibit Potter put "The GOP" and they would put in place "OBAMA"! It's the end of the world!

  • @rgmatos2 I do not want to be rude, but what does this comment mean? And what does it have to do with the song?

  • You're The Top Obama!

  • Thanks for uploading this as this is the only version I like. Can't stand those over-the-top check-out-my-pipes broadway versions.

  • Many (if not most) of my 78s came from the floors of thrift stores. Cleaning them and playing them brings them back to life and makes it seem like they are doing the job they were intended for.

  • It's pretty scratchy...but I love it anyway. How could anyone not? It's just so clever, witty, smart, melodic, and rhythmical...and just plain fun.

  • First heard this on MASH.

  • Greetings from Rapture.

  • For some more nice music check out my original piano compositions. Just search John Zivku

  • Wish they made stuff like this nowadays...

  • They still do actually. Its just not that mainstream lol

  • I've got the feeling this tune was in Tiny Toons Adventures for the SNES. Anybody else agree??

  • Wouldnt be suprised, Anything goes LOL

  • Oh ho ho ho! I love that song too! = D

  • Hehe, I'll look into it.

  • Is there any way to get the lyrics from this version? I can't find these exact ones anywhere...

  • We don't have lyrics like these nowadays. A sweet way to show love for someone

  • awesome

  • would you kindly buy me a Fallout DLC

  • where is this in bioshock?

  • Olympus Heights, around the area where the trains have been derailed. Right before you leave that area, there will be a set of two phonograph horns playing the song before you leave that area to go to the enclosed place where people were being held in an encampment. It's the place described as being reminiscent of a concentration camp in one of the recordings you find nearby. I had recently seen Anything Goes, and instantly recognized the song. Glad I got to hear it again. Porter's got skill.

  • LOL someone gave you a thumbs down! Youa re classic though brother, so I say thumbs up LOL!

  • Actually he was, but that's not what this song is about believe it or not

  • Love Cole Porter, but since you guys brought up the "would you kindly"....I have to say that was the best plot twist I have ever seen in a video game (maybe movies).

  • Wouldn't it have been lovely if Ryan sang this to Diane McClintock?

I feel sad for her. And she's purdy too.

And Cole Porter has some great lyrics. I really enjoy them.

  • Would you kindly, show me more great cole porter songs?

  • Just look up songs from the show anythin goes

  • cool, ok thanks

  • Would you kindly head to ryans office, and KILL the son of a bitch?

Oh and the songs awesome as well, definitely my favorite from Cole porter.

  • LOL the Splicers sing this sometimes in Bioshock. Awesome song

  • You should really run this through some noise reduction software.

  • For better or worse, these videos of records are done in real analog time. The sound you hear is coming directly from the disk as it plays.

  • @manhatin Nope. The sound you are hearing is recorded by a computer, digitized, compressed, and probably recompressed by Youtube (depending on how careful you were with your compression settings). This is 2 generations and a conceptual format away from "coming directly from the disk as it plays".

  • @manhatin

    For worse.

  • Lovely song. TY.

  • with out fallout 3 i would never like this kind of music

  • I love this song! What song is on the flip-side if i may ask? :3

  • You are very fortunate to have this on the original 78rpm... I would pay as much as $20 to get my hands on it.

What label is it on if i may ask? Also what is the flip-side song?

  • Simply poetry

  • i love the fact he mentions Ghandi

  • Would you kindly.....like to dance?

  • haha so this song is from bioshock ?

  • Yes =D

  • anything goes-Cole Porter in fallout 3 both amazing games=)

  • i liked earl haig's adaptation in toronto

  • i watched it tonight. it was rly good!

  • yeah i know. i liked sir evelyn oakleigh!

  • Pepsodent !

  • I love this song! I love "you're Mickey Mouse"

  • Would you kindly snap that sweet puppy's neck?

  • This is just too true. Amazing song. They don't make music like that anymore.

  • i love this sonG!

  • It's really nice that this song is getting recognized for it's originality.

  • This song always puts me in a good mood. The lyrics are some of the most clever I've ever heard. Cole Porter sure gave us much great music.

  • ow =) so awesome!! really great music))

  • Great old console stereo, but I worry that heavy old tonearm will ruin your records over time. I have a couple of retro tabletop stereos, with the cloth-covered speakers and all. Those have the newer-style tonearms which are lighter.

  • where can i find a mp3 download of this song?

  • "where can i find a mp3 download of this song? "

Search online and there are programs that download a flash video on youtube and strip out the audio.

  • amazing.

  • There's a movie where that song is sung by a young man to an old lady in bed...Does anyone by chance remember what was that movie's name?

I heard the song in it,years ago, just once and I never forgot it...

  • It's from a musical called: Anything Goes.

    :)

  • I dedicate this to a great Scotsman who now lives in Austrailia. A gentleman and a scholar, indeed.

  • I thought I might try tap dancing to this. An ambulance and a plumber are both now on the way. A great song, love the lyrics, ryhming Mahatma Ghandi with Napoleon brandy! You're Whistlers mamma!!! Just genius!!

  • Ha Ha, come to think of it I have been the top a few times!!

  • Hope the ambulance and the plumber hit it off well. It woul be great to have an ambulance driver'plumber, combination, in order to get to the emergency jobs faster. This sounds LIke my next Austrailian job venture!

  • Yes, I can just imagine you as a plumber!!! "Fix your plumbing madam"? ooooh err!

  • From time to time I have laid a bit of pipe, come to think of it.

  • Great song & I would agree some of the best lyrics!
