  • @monkeyboy4529

You're welcome!! It makes me happy to see that so many people still use this fine ol' camera! :-)

  • THANK YOU THIS HELPED ME ALOT!!!!! :)

  • @rusteddime

You're welcome! I'm glad to hear that!! :-)

  • This is aswm camera my dad baught dis in 1993 and its still still working perfectly...............

  • @pimpleomkar

Thank you! Yes, its mechanics is really great!!

  • I just got one of these off ebay and my shutter release button is stuck pushed down. Do you know how that could be fixed?

  • @natepack

You could try to clean it with a brush from above, maybe there are a lot of dust / sticky substances between release button and the outer ring that carries it. If that doesn't work, you could try out a cable release, screwing it on the release button, to see if the camera releases.

  • @LZFILM hey hey hey. i have this camera, but the 2000 type. i screw it up as the self timer lever got stuck and when i open the back lid the shutter curtain is opened. how can i get it fixed?? please please help me.

  • @afiqeaizudin

That's really a strange situation. I never had this problem with any of my cameras...

  • @LZFILM

wow, there's a story behind the trick. now i can use my FX-3 again. thank you so much man. i really appreciate it. :)

  • @LZFILM

wooooooooooooooooooowww! you are the coolest man everrrrrr!!! thank you so muchhhh!! now it workk. what is actually happen? is this serious problem or no? thank you so muchh

  • @SweetGambris

I'm so glad to hear that! Once I had a problem with a stuck film advance lever on my FX-3, that was after a long journey on dusty roads. I was really in a big despair because it my journey would end after three more days, and I wanted to have photos from all of the places I had seen. I didn't know what to do, so I just tested out all of the camera's functions... and in the end it worked again (and it does until now)... ;-)

  • @LZFILM

If the mirror is locked it might have to do with the self-timer as well, if the self-timer lever is stuck, it can't execute the release.

  • @LZFILM

i can't see anything from the view finder. it's just black, dark. which one is the shutter curtains? there's nothing in the upper right corner

  • @SweetGambris

The view finder is black, and it's not because of the lens cap? ;-) So, the mirror is stuck. Please unscrew the lens to confirm that!

You can see the shutter curtains when you open the back of the camera body. Of course, the film has to be taken out. It is in the middle. There are five segments. If the shutter has been released, there are a kind of rivets in the upper right corner. If it is cocked, you see only the five shades.

  • @LZFILM

the shutter is loose. the film advance lever stuck when i tried to reload it.

  • @SweetGambris

Have you already take off the lens? The mirror is in its normal position? And when you open the back, where are the shutter curtains? Can you see something in the upper right corner?

  • @LZFILM

i've tried ur advice and my cam still not working. now i'm a bit panic. lol. do u have other trick? :)

  • @SweetGambris

    Could you release the shutter?

  • @LZFILM

Don't try to do anything with force, it might break, that is very important if you handle with a camera! ;-)

  • @LZFILM thank you for your advice. I'll give it a try once i got back home. I'll tell you the result later on. Thankk youuu :D :D

  • @SweetGambris

You're welcome! I hope your camera works now!! :-)

  • @LZFILM thanks for your reply. yes the film was inside the camera. But then i replace it with the new one and nothing changes. the Film advance lever still stuck and the exposure counter keep pointing to "S" even when i closed the body.

  • @SweetGambris

The exposure counter will point to "S" as long as you can't move the film advance lever. (Normally, it returns to as every time you open the back, even if there is no film inside. It moves on and counts with every film-advance-and-release step.) There is still no possibility to release? With every full movement of the film advance lever you cock the shutter. Only after having pushed the release button you can do it again.

  • Hi, i have yashica fx-3 2000. The film advance lever seems to be stuck, so i can't take a picture. and also the exposure counter keep pointing in "S". what is actually happen to my cam? thanks broo awesome tutorial.

  • @SweetGambris

Thanks for your comment. Is there a film in the camera? If you can't move the film advance lever, maybe the film has come to its end, but someone has opened the body, so that's why the exposure counter is on "S" again? That's the only case I could imagine for this situation if there aren't any parts broken within the camera body...

  • Thanks for this video! Sadly it doesn't seem like the exposure meter works on mine, and I don't get the LED lights even though I replaced the batteries. I hope I can still take good pictures without it.

  • @kimishim

Thanks for the comment! Luckily the FX-3 works perfectly well without batteries. If you use negative films, you have a certain scope for the exposure, and outdoors, in bright sunlight, with an 100 ASA film, you can take pictures at f8 and 1/250s. For slides where you need an exact exposure, a handheld light meter would help.

  • I LOVE YOU BRO!!!!! THIS VID IS SICKKK!!!!

  • @banoue815

    :-)))

  • nice video , i have FX-3 super2000 : )

  • @AlecFinderton

    Thank you! It's a fine camera! :-)

  • Hi, I've got a Yashica fx-2 but I don´t know how use it yet, very well, you don´t have yashica fx-2 tutorial? help me plz!!

  • The FX-2 is more or less the same camera. It has more metal, than the FX-3 Super 2000, and it provides a depth-of-field preview button (a feature that I really miss on the FX-3). For basic use (inserting a film) you can take this tutorial as an instruction! :-)

  • i got the yashica fx3, not the super one :) cant wait to use it !

  • @sunshineloveshappy

Congrats! It's a really a nice camera! I guess the FX-3 is even better built than the FX-3 Super 2000, it not plastic overall! ;-) I carried with me an FX-3 for about 3000 km through dust, humidity and heat on some hiking tours, and it survived - even a fall from 1,2m and it is still working! So I'd say it's a fine camera!! :-)

  • thankssssss!!!

  • @camysusys

    You're welcome! :-)

  • What lens is that ?:) in 2min+

  • @sunshineloveshappy

At the beginning, there is a Yashica ML 28 1:2,8 mounted on the camera, and then it is changed to a Yashica ML 50 1:1,4 until the end of the video. The lens seen through the viewfinder at 2:26 is the ML 28. :-)

  • how do you open the part where the battery goes?

    i can open it :/

  • @muusiicliife oh never mind! i finally did it lol!

    great vid anyways (:

  • @muusiicliife

I'm glad to hear that! :-) Actually, it opens counterclockwise (to the left). It is much better to use a coin for doing it. I had forgotten to take one out, and the camera was already rolling, so I used my thumb instead because I never close the battery holder too tight so I can easily open it. :-D But you shouldn't do that unless you don't have the original camera bag (the lower part of it) because you might loose the battery holder in action on the street! ;-)

  • When I came home with my first Digital SLR, my dad went up in the attic to get an oldschool Yashica SLR that he used in his younger days... a beautiful reminiscent of the late 70s ;)

  • Yes, it has been a fine camera even though it is so simple compared to a modern Digital SLR... :-) Thanks for your comment!

  • great! i just got a yashica fx-3 and enjoyed the quality of pictures it give. thanks for this informative video! =)

  • Thank you! The FX-3 is really a pretty nice camera!! Okay, it lacks all sort of automatic functions, but for learning the basics photography it is perfect, and if one accepts that it takes a little bit more time to take pictures, it is a wonderful camera!

  • what kind of battries does it take

  • It needs two LR 44 1,5V or two SR 44 1,55V batteries, sometimes they are also called V76PX or AG13. You may also use one CR1/3N 3V Li-Mn cell.
