from the video I'm gonna assume you were a Marine Crew Chief. what's it like? i would mainly just want to be a door gunner, or is that too small a part of the job to go for it?
@marleynrs8 Doing the same thing. Im going as crew chief and yes you get to man the Guns if neccesary. but the rush of just flying in a helo is enough for me!
@JAM8132 yep you can, its an series of MOS's. none of the bullshit the Army makes you do to become a crew chief, however the initial training is long and there is alot of waiting for the different classes and schools from what I've heard. being Navy Aircrew might be a bit faster, but not as many operational taskings. being an Airforce Flight Engineer on the rescue Hawks would be badass though. but if you want to be a badass combat crew chief right off the bat, you best bet would be Marines.
@marleynrs8 so you dont have to go aircrew and work your way up? so i can go to a recruiter and be like i want crew chief and i will get it? thats awesome
@JAM8132 yep, check out this link. you cant be guranteed an airframe, but do good at the schools and the chances of you getting what you want are better. id suggest the Huey, Heuy crew chiefs are badass. you get a minigun and actual offensive ops. check this out. all the info you need, and what you need to know BEFORE you see the recruiter. check out the 61xx series. go to military.about.com, go to marine enlisted mos's, go to aviation maintenence, scroll down.
@marleynrs8 Thank you very much also,I as well Appreciate the Info,it helped me out,I plan on Being a Crew Chief or enlisted Aircrew as my Career. Don't know the Difference but your info helped.
It is so cal. If you watch all my videos its actually supposed to be 1 BIG video showing what its like to do work ups and then deploy....fight....and go home.
Watch the rest of my videos. The point of the series is to show what workups, the float, and the return are like. But thank you for pointing that out.
Semper Fi Marines, I was a 2111, small arms repairman when I was in....a long time ago, 1985 to 1989. In the begining of video, looks like Force Recon doing some training....check out the Marine at 0:45....watch close, it goes by fast...looks like he does a half gainer off the ramp in a true Marine Corps military manner...........Hoo Rah!
You would be right on that one. That marine slipped on the ramp going out and did a running belly flop into the water. It was funny as hell to watch from inside the aircraft. Even the instructors were laughing.
