@mushk45 i just got ubuntu cause my puter f*cked up. will diablo really be full screen and playable in 800x600 resolution using wine? please let me know!
@Illkvittni For full screen games which don't have windowed support, you can just configure wine to emulate a full screen desktop in a window.. that way full screen games stay in a window. You just have to set the same resolution in both wine configuration and in the game. I noticed if you lack resolutions you can add them as screen modes to Xorg configuration even if you don't really use them as X display modes.
Easy fix. goto "configure wine" i dont know ther terminal comand. underthat window goto graphics tab, then check "run under virtual desktop" should be fine now
hey man, can you give a brief description how you did this? i really want to get D2 to work on my ubuntu laptop... i know the specs are good enough to play it with

How exactly do you get your game window to be smaller like that? I can't get mine out of full-screen.

It was a window in an older version of wine. In 0.9.58 it's fullscreen.

Do "winecfg" and on the graphics tab (I think) choose window checkbox, and size. Maybe spec it for d2 only if you want some stuff fullscreen.
I haven't tried d2 on linux yet. Couldn't get d1 working except under a full VirtualBox.

I have done this too, it was pretty easy.... one problem though.
The game runs fine, but if I click on another window, the diablo 2 window will just freeze.... any solutions?

I had it installed on my window$ machine.
First I had to make sure the cdrom has an assigned drive letter in wine. Run winecfg, goto Drives, and make sure your cdrom is there.
Then all I had to do was type wine Diablo\ II.exe in the game directory ;)
If you don't have D2 installed, you can try running the installer in wine.
If something doesn't work, check your requirements at the d2 wine appdb page.
