if any expression appears within a mod sign it means that it is positive..but u can solve for x only by removing the mod sign ..if u remove the mod sign u will have to consider the possibility of negative numbers too so the expression wud lie in between a negative number and its positive equivalent!!=)

Isnt this partly wrong? wouldn't it need to be x is greater than or EQUAL to -6 and less than or EQUAL to 9?
