  • Alton is the man. Love watching his show.

  • How's Alton not going to jail for putting a woman in a bag?

  •  I  him!!!!

  • Did he call fiber natures broom? LOL

  • Tchaikovsky :D

  • it would be nice to be an intern for that show, i'd watch him cook, and then eat all the food.

  • i made a parmesian risotto the other day ussing about a cup of cheese and some thyme flowers with a half onoin and 2 garlic glove sweat at the begining and it was delicious. this proves that you dont need a bunch of ingredients to make a delicious meal

  • i actually like brown or wild rice more in dishes then white. white rice doesn't have any bite to it, its to fluffy and i like the texture to brown rice. now that i know its healthier i'm gonna have it more often.

  • THERE'S A WOMAN IN THAT RICE!!!

  • Oh, Alton. Why do you keep a crystal in your fridge?

He's such a geek, and I love that man.

  • "What Americans think of as rice is the blandest version "

    ---------

Way to generalize-some of us Americans love rice more than any other dish as a "starch", breakfast, drink and bulk up recipes.

  • i never knew one could take a statement about rice so personally

  • That risotto looks delicious!

  • min 1:30 we, in Italy, usually add white wine first, make it dry, then add hot broth...

anyway this is a GREAT recipe, very good indead! (even if I personally use less onion, 1/2 cup with same quantity of carrot and celery to make SOFFRITTO)

always remember to use REAL ITALIAN CHEESE!

    buon appetito gente!

  • Tried the brown rice salad recipe the other day; its fantastic.

  • Couscous is a very small, round pasta. It cooks in 5 minutes.

  • Have you tasted risotto by either one? Did you conduct a survey of those who have tasted both chefs risotto? Ignorant prick.

  • the little fact thing about the asian languages having rice and food as same is close in philippines. in tagalog rice is kanin and and eat is kain

  • In Japanese, "gohan" means both "rice" and "meal."

  • hahaht the 2 guys

  • does any one know what couscous is?

  • Semolina, I think? My mom used to fix it in chicken broth every once and a while...I didn't care for it too much.

  • Its a pasta, darkcrimson23 is correct I'm pretty sure on what flour. Its great because you can just toss hot water over it in a bowl and in a few minutes, voila-its done. The only thing you can't do is use too much water or whatever liquid you use.

  • needs goats cheese

  • 4:44-4:50

Tchaikovsky. Symphony in f. Last movement.

    (geek)

  • And last, but not least, a wee sprinkling of the white stuff.

  • Those rice grain suits were TOO funny xD

  • HOLY SHIZZLE.

that lady in the rice scared the sheezz out of me :'c

  • how come he didn't need to poke holes in the foil while cooking the brown rice? If it was completely sealed wouldn't the pressure of the steam cause the foil to blow open?

  • I think if you poked a hole then the moisture would escape, causing the rice to dry up. I'm guessing that since since it is sealed, the water soaks into the rice as it cooks

  • It's not hermetically sealed, and the air inside is already warmed from the water added. This means that the air inside doesn't have much further to expand, and what does will escape to the lower pressure outside. No blown top, but the majority of the moisture will simply collect on the foil and run back into the dish.

  • What the hell is with the person in the bag.

  • She is the "Lady of the fridge". She is actually a nutritionist.

  • Haha I love it when everyone eats the plate of risotto.

Oh yeah and Risotto rules. Savory, sweet, you name it.

  • That risotto sounds great, I think I'll make that tomorrow. Does anybody know a good veggie alternative to the bacon in that salad (that isn't tofu)?

  • Well really, the point of the bacon is for flavor and the bacon fat is the base of the dressing also.

If you really don't want the bacon, you could use olive oil as an alternative, but it wouldn't have the smoky and salty flavor that the bacon would.

  • Im making this Risotto right now.

  • can i skip the aspargius

  • DAMN!

  • what about sushi and cal rose rice!

    just italian rice, eh?

  • what about sushi and cal rose rice!

    just italian rice, eh?

  • He has a whole show about sushi

  • oooooooooooooooooooooooooooooohhh really? =D

  • Lol rice fight!

  • You can just use a rice cooker rather than going through all of that trouble cooking rice. If you eat rice everyday or every other day, it is a good investment.

  • and a uni tasker.

  • I got a rice cooker, it burns the rice on the bottom and it all sticks while the rice on top is barely cooked. I rather use a microwave or saucepan or pot.

  • Well, I got mine from the Asian supermarket. It could be that or you don't rinse your rice a few times before you cook it. Having all of the rice rinsed off removes dirt and having all of the grains wet makes it cook better.

Although it says nothing in the video about rinsing your rice. I highly recommend it.

  • Maybe it's just a bad rice cooker. My rice is always perfect.

  • dont be cheap, buy a good asian one.

  • Lightly burnt rice taste very good, kind of like a tortilla but made out of rice, u just put like meat on top and eat it like a taco.

  • It depends on the cooker--I bought one (Krups) which baked the rice on the bottom (though it didn't go so far as to burn it), but later bought another one (Aroma) that only started to do that if I kept it warming the rice for double-digit hours.

  • I actually use a crock pot to cook rice

  • I looooove my Zojirushi rice cooker. Perfect each and every time, though it IS a uni-t tasker ;)

But to make it less uni-tasker-ish I throw cut small meat, cooked or raw, and veggies, bullion cube, soy sauce, hell once I made ramen soup in it.

  • im going 2 go get 1 then

or maybe i can use a slowcooker 2 cook rice

  • I've used a slow cooker to cook rice when it's in another recipe, and it comes out pretty good, though usually a bit mushy. I haven't ever used it to cook just rice by itself though. Hey, rice is cheap, try out the crock pot lol!

  • i have a rice cooker

even thought its a unitasker i need it because i eat rice everyday

  • A rice cooker doesn't actually have to be a unitasker. I've seen recipes to make carrot cake, among other things, in a rice cooker. I don't have one myself, but I look forward to testing it out.

  • You can also make bread in a rice cooker.

  • I use my rice cooker as a slow cooker to make coconut curry chicken, oatmeal, and stew.

  • Unfortunatley I learned the reverse isn't true. I can't make rice in a slow cooker.. :P

  • Has a rice cooker too. It works out just great. Just dump and let it do its thing.

  • I love this show!
