@Stahio Ahh, but Rocksmith relies 100% on sound, so if someone says "I want to learn guitar!" and either buys a $50 guitar or uses the shitty guitar they got for their birthday, will be disappointed when there song tells them they aren't hitting the right notes because their guitar fell out of tune, they will be discouraged and give up. Not to mention, although changing difficulty sounds good, you will never be able to master difficulty levels until you reach the top level.

Wow, I learned something from this vid. So could you actually use the pro guitar as a MIDI controller (like the RB3 keyboard/keytar)?

That would make it easier for people who only compose in MIDI to write guitar parts w/o using a keyboard controller! Or even allow people that do tracks here on YT (for example CSGuitar89) to create tabs just by playing a piece!

I have no problem with this. It will introduce a load of new people to guitar hopefully...

But the way I see it, guitarist TODAY are already getting worse... With the use of the internet, guitarists no longer learn songs by ear and work it all out themselves.. they just google "crazy train tabs" and they will learn it in minutes..

With THIS game... people will be doing the exactly same but worse... everyone will lack IMPORTANT knowledge in the music world...

I think you can get the real guitar online, just go to a place like Best Buy and have them order it for you if you have the money, the real guitar itself costs atleast $280.

If just want the pro guitar with the buttons it's up to $150.

so bassically it's a guitar, am i the only one who thinks this will destroy the REAL guitar...why play something thats exactally like a guitar when you can a play a real guitar and have an actuall tallent. you may say it helps you practise when you are a beginner but if you play that then the skin on your fingers wont form callousses and they will hurt which will make you stop and give up because it hurts too much to play on real strings.

Guitar Hero I, Encore, 2, 3, Rock Band 1, and 2. Those are the only games I even card about, they are trying WAY to hard to make it a real instrument. If I wanna play my guitar I'll pick it up and start playing it. I've played for 4 years and I like taking a break and having a great time on a game. I don't want more of the same. This all looks confusing. I'm glad you can still use the "Basic" mode, seems like much more fun.

This seems pretty pointless. If you want to learn guitar, get a real guitar and learn. This "play the game and learn guitar" crap is stupid. I play guitar and I was a fan of rock band until world tour. It's just been getting worse ever since in my opinion. You can't even read the tabs in the solo. It's like using guitar pro with all the numbers crunched together and you can only see them at the last second. Maybe it's cool to some people but it just seems really dumb to me.

Lookin on the charts of some of the songs i can for sure say, THATS NOT how theyre played. But still im stunned by the accuracy of the solos and riffs O.O That game will sure help many people to get into guitar playing. The hardest thing after playing this though will be the real strings of steel and not silly easy to press buttons.

@NeverGodGFX i got u there, i play drums looking at rockband drum charts its awesome, but until rockband 3 pro mode i had no idea how could u do that with gutiar, on rb it tells u what fret and string (so if its the same as it would be in the tabs, u dont even need tabs, just look at the chart) xD i play the game and the real thing but both 4 FUN and entertainment im not bashing or anything, i even use it as something helpful (u can call me cheater if u want).

As a guitarist and a gamer, the only negative things I can see about this is:

1. The fact that you'll have to learn shitty songs as well as good ones to play online and not crap out when someone picks a bad song.

2. To some extent, it does kinda defeat the purpose of a rythm/music game.

Other than that, the option to play an actual guitar to get some leaderboard ownage is pretty neat-o. And the fact that kids might actually pick up a real instrument through this is cool too.

One problem i see... OBVIOUSLY not every song is tuned the same... so if your fake guitar is tuned in standard tuning and you play a song on the game that is supposed to be played in another tuning, obviously trying to plug the guitar in the amp and play the song you just "learned" wont work. And it will piss off people who are not actual guitarist and who do not understand the who tuning part of the guitar... PREPARE TO BE DISAPPOINTED AMATEURS and realize you just got FUCKED

@fuzzyjem3 There's never gonna be a replacement for learning the basics. I'm pretty sure this isn't aimed at amateur guitar players; as they probably already know the concept of notes, how to tune their instrument, and can probably play a few songs.

I'm pretty sure this is more geared towards: RB players that want to learn the real thing, and guitarists/bassists that are frustrated that people that hit 5 buttons and a flipper are getting a higher score than them. :)

I mean shit, when I want to play a game, I typically want to look at the screen and watch the graphics and play the game. But playing leads on a real guitar involves concentration and actually knowing the parts rather than interacting with the game. I'd rather just play the instrument if I'm not gonna be paying attention to the screen anyway.

I myself don't play guitar much, but being a drummer the same applies. Complex crap being played is easy after hours and hours of playing it over and over. =D

@DevinRickard True, but when you're drumming you can use your peripheral vision for reference and you can memorize your own setup. Also, it's mostly coordination and muscle memory. String instruments are different in that regard. Lots of shifting, chords, scales... even the best guitarists stare at their fretboard. Either way, if I'm gonna play an instrument along with some music, I'd rather do just that. Plus, I don't want to have to learn Weezer songs. :P
