The translation here is a tad dodgy. I'm sure your German is fine, but there are a few extra descriptive words added here and there, and quite a few sentences which haven't been translated accurately, yet still retain their core meaning. Still, well done! Good effort!

I do understand what you mean, but it's also pretty hard to translate german 1:1 into English without using overly long sentences, and if you do: it will be hard to retain the core meaning in a sentence readable in a subtitle... which will only be displayed for a couple of seconds. :D

I know that. Sohn is obviously the word for son, but it is implied in the song that the boy mentioned is the son. Hence the translation isn't accurate at all, but still conveys much the same information.

Clearly you haven't understood the message given by the song. This is an evening's worth of parental preachery to their 'son'. Germans do like to address their children with the words: Boy/Girl (Junge/ Maedchen). In order to retain the structual meaning of the conversation: I have chosen to keep the meaning of Junge in direct correspondance to the conversation. Which is an direct addressation to their 'Son'. Am however curious about this video, not the zombies or anything but why are they taking the mick out of themselfs concidering they used to have a very punk appearance, dyed hair, nose rings etc. XD

Thx, I really appreciate comment like this. As the german grammar can't be compared to the simplistic nature of the english language.

Germans do express themselves, compared to other languages, a bit more formal. Almost poethic without any effort at all.. The use a lot of references.

So a real 1:1 translation wouldn't be possible without losing most of the lyrics context, or either increasing the subtitles length into redicule dimensions, unreadable to the audience while watching.

Really the subtitles are a nice idea but the translation is sometimes really bad^^

The problem is: If you would make a 1:1 translation (word by word), it simply wouldn't make any sense in English, or the sentences would be to long for the titling... hence: I have chosen to deduct instead of making a 1:1 :)

...I guess in the broad, it is more or less accurate.

Als 2sprachlerin hätte ich ein paar Stellen anders übersetzt - da fehlen mir die worte= words fail me (sagt man so)

guck dir den d. an = will you just look at d. (klingt eher "parental", also elternhaft)

Werkstatt heißt normalerweise einfach "garage"

wir werden dich enterben = we'll disinherit you

Well well, someone did some German on school I assume :)

Aerzte means, indeed, "Doctors".

While Junge, in it's original form means Boy. But in this song it's used as deferral to 'Son'. German is quite a complex language, and it offers alot of ways to express yourself quite 'Poethically' =)

I'll soon post a 1:1 translation to the lirics on this video :)
