So the real story is that kids can openly play with an AK-47 and someone can walk into a Police Station with the same rifle, leaving it without anyone knowing. Maybe he should have left it at the donut shop. And yes, children should be supervised while playing with loaded AK-47's.... this isn't the middle east folks.

I don't think it should be a crime to turn in your AK-47 to police. Now if you fire the AK at police then yes you should be charged, but voluntarily handing over weapons. This story is sending the wrong signals.
