To the people who think it's cruel or unnatural to bathe Persian cats: 1) Their coats get really disgusting and matted if you don't groom and bathe then regularly. A matted coat is very painful for the cat, and way crueller than the short discomfort of being bathed.

2) Remember that the Persian was breed by humans to look like that, it's far removed from what nature intended. The cats are simply unable to groom themselves sufficiently on their own, therefore we have to help them out.

Cats actually need to have a proper bath occasonally to prevent any fleas or tics getting onto the cat's fur, preventing them from getting thier skin infected, so even though the cat may not look happy, its for his/her's own good.

Cats also need a bath now and then to keep them clean from any fleas or tics, especially from bot flies which can eat into the cat's skin, causing agony for the cat. So despite the cat not being too happy having a bath, its still for his/her own good. The bath will keep the cat's skin and fur healthy making the cat feel happy and refreshed.

I had to give my ktitens a bath when I first got them. They had fleas :/ And some cats do actaully enjoy water. I had a cat that would roll in rain puddles :) It just depends on the their personality.
