Hey nice sharks man, I'm a beginner shark fisher my self and I was wondering when you use "dead" bait how do u deal with the crabs? Right now I'm constantly changing baits 30min cuz of crabs chewing my fish?
Right on man,,,THANKS!!!,,,,Well on this video I was using a trolley rig and I don't have to worry about crabs because my rig is mid water "but" when I fish in the bay for sharks I bottom fish and sometimes the crabs get me too!!!,,,,What I do is put big pieces of bait so that it take the crabs longer to eat my bait because there's not much that you really can do to stop those darn crabs,,,,Your doing the right thing by checking your bait often,,,,"Tight Lines"...
Hey bro where did you buy your gaff? I fish in Venice beach pier and I've seen a few guys snag some threshers with their gaff but I cant find any local tackle shops that sell them

"Hey there Roy",,,,It's my pleasure getting back to you and THANKS SO MUCH FOR CONSIDERING ME AS YOUR FAVORITE FISHERMAN",,,,Right on!!!,,,,,Concerning your questions,,,,I have 100 lbs. braided line and concerning me taking a picture and putting it in the bait shop,,,,"Naaa",,,,I'd rather just post it with a video so more people can see it on You Tube,,,,,,,"peace always"...
IM 8 YEARS OLD WHAT DID YOU USE FOR BAIT?I coght a 4 and a half foot sand tiger shark 88 poundseds. How many pounds was it ?I used a 5 inch squide live. you are the only guy on pacifaca pear on videos evrey day i watch all of your videos
where did you get your fishing pole it has a 30 pound test line. what was your test line?
"Hey Young Man",,,,First thing that I want to say is "great catch" on your Sandtiger Shark,,,,"That Awesome",,,,,Your already quite a good fisherman to able to handle a Sandtiger Shark at 8 years old,,,,Great Job!!!,,,,
Now concerning what I use for bait for Thresher Sharks,,,,I use either mackerel or sardine (live when possible),,,,And concerning the weight of this Thresher,,,if I remember correctly it was a little over 90 lbs.,,,,And concerning my fishing rod,,It's just a 11 ft. Daiwa Beefstick and I have 100 lbs. power pro braided line on it!,,,,I'd like to thank you for always watching my videos and I also hope that you keep fishing and have "new great adventures yourself",,,,,,"Peace Always"...
i hate that pier!!! i turned around for one second and a lepord shark pulled my pole right in!!! luckily my buddies hook got caught on my line so i got it back anndd got the shark who tried to steal it hahaha

"Hey what's up",,,,,Any questions that you have about my set up and rod & reels that I use are in the comments,,,,,You should read the comments in all of my thresher shark videos because there's a lot of helpful things said in them,,,,,,"Owe" and the answer to your question is "YES",,,,,I'm using a medium/heavy rod,,,it's a Daiwa Beefstick!!!,,,,,,"Peace Always"...
@SharkMan650 shakespere is the best brand in poles and the best line is berkly fireline and its spider wire although i do like martin fly fishing poles too
"Yea" I like Power Pro braided line myself with my Tica GG100R reel and a cheap Beefstick rod when I fish for Thresher sharks,,,,everybody likes different things such as fishing rods,,reel and lines,,,,But I say if you like it then it's right for you!,,,,,,,"peace always"...
Well for bait I use mackerels or sardines,,,,Then what I do is I cast out my line" first" with a spider weight and I anchor my weight in the sand,,,,,Then I slide down my leader with the float,,,,My leader is about 12 ft. long with a floater on it.,,,,Some people call my leader a "Trolley Rig",,,,,You can also google "Trolley Rig" for more info,,,,Best Regards....
"Yes",,,,This one was eaten and not wasted,,,,I even sent the head to researchers for studies,,,,,I let go about 99% of all sharks that I catch but this one became dinner to many many families,,,,,"peace always"...
Right on bro!!!,,,,,,"That's cool",,,,,You got the record on Venice Pier and I have the record on the Pacifica Pier!!!,,,,,,,"please tell me you took video when you caught them???",,,,,well this year the bait fish never really made it hear so I didn't fish for threshers,,,,"but" there's always "next year",,,,,The one thing that I wish we had here that you catch over there is Mako Sharks!!!,,,,,,
Maybe "next summer" I'll head down there to catch some,,,,I'll send you my email address so you can show me the photos,,,,Can't wait to see them bra,,,,,,"Peace Always"...
"Yea" I hope you get one!!!,,,,,,,,The Thresher Sharks we catch here in Northern California are the Common Thresher not the Big Eye either,,,,,,"Peace Always"...
Hey thanks man,,,,I'm glad you like my video,,,,And my opinion on the beefstick is that it's a great rod for the money,,,,,If it ever breaks for some reason it's no big deal because there not expensive to replace,,,,"Peace Always"...
@SharkMan650 Thanks gonna take the plunge on a 20-40lb rated 12ft beefstick online since im in Australia, also what reel is that your using? Tightlines always peace.
"Yea" a 12ft. Beefstick is good,,,,I myself prefer the 11 ft. Beefstick,,,,,That's just my preference,,,,,,And my reel is a TICA "GG 100R Cybernetic",,,,,,"Good luck" & "Peace Always"...
Well I let go about 95% of all the sharks that I catch "but "this one was eaten and no meat was wasted,,,,,,and the head went for research,,,,,,So basicly every part of this shark was used or eaten!!!
"Right on my brother",,,,,"Yea" that's exactly what I am trying to do,,,,(give everybody the fisherman's point of view),,,,,Thanks a lot for the "thumbs up",,,,,,,,,"Peace Always"...
Hey whats up man,,,,,"pretty good",,,,,You almost remember my name correctly,,,,It's Federico,,,,"Not Francisco",,,,,,,,Man you have a great memory because I am obsessed with sharks!!!!,,,,,,"haahaa,,,,,,,,"Take Care"...
wow! fantastic job landing the Thresher that size, especially at Pacifica. gotta thank u because this video takes me back to the 80's when i was a teenager, and when salmon was plentiful out at Pacifica Pier. I still remember a day when a school of Thresher's passed through and a good 10-12 were landed that day, but none were close to the size of yours. kudos again, man.
Hey thanks bro for the "thumbs up" on my video,,,,It's pretty fun fishing for these thresher sharks,,,,they fight really good,,,,"Yea" I remember in the 80's to when everybody was catching Salmon,,,,I wish that they were still around like they were then,,,,"Hopefully someday?",,,,But until that day comes I'll keep getting a work out with these thresher sharks,,,"haahaa",,,,,,,Take care and thanks again!!! "Peace Always"...
"No bro",,,,,It says "BEEFSTICK",,,,,I like to use them for shark fishing because they work great and they don't cost a lot either! Maybe "Daiwa" should use it for a commercial,,,,"haha",,,,,"take care"...
Well what I do is I cast out my line" first" with a spider weight and I anchor my weight in the sand,,,,,Then I slide down my leader with the float,,,,My leader is about 12 ft. long with a floater on it.,,,,Some people call my leader a "Trolley Rig",,,,,You can also google "Trolley Rig" for more info,,,,Best Regards...
Hey thanks man for the "thumbs up",,,,,And we kept this one to eat because it was big enough,,,,,I keep one to eat every once in a while but release 95% of the sharks that I catch,,,,,,,"Peace Always"...
"""Thanks my brother""",,,,And "yea" you should go to Pacifica some time when you get the chance,,,,,,Maybe I'll be there when you go and if I am come and say what's up!!! "Peace Always"...
"Hey thanks bro for the thumbs up on my catch",,,,,This was the "biggest" Thresher Shark ever landed on the Pacifica Pier history so far,,,,,It's was such a blast fighting and catching it!!!
I wish,,,,"but" unfortunately the battery went dead in my video camera when I was fighting it,,,,The only thing that I was able to do before I let it go was take a few pictures of it...
"Hey what's up",,,,My leader is 80 lbs test and has 3 sliding 1/2 oz. weights on my leader and it is about 12 ft. long with a swivel in the middle of the leader so that the sliding weights stay in the middle of the leader,,,And I also use a short wire leader connected to the hook so that the sharks don't cut my line with there teeth,,as they have done in the past,,,,"that's pretty much my leader set up",,,,And my fishing line is 100 lbs. Power Pro Braided,. Good luck when you go fishing!
is pillar point the one near barbra shrimp shack? with the small pier? if it is i been there and only caught 3 red rock keepers in 4 hours... any other spots? hopefully im there nexx time u strike!! quick questions also whats the can we keep female crabs that aren't dugness and what are the legal sizes for dugeness and red rock?
Hey there,,,,I think your talking about the little pier inside the harbor next to the boat ramps?,,,,Where I'm talking about is on the other side at that rock wall near where people launch there boats,,,,I walk half way out then cast on the "outside" of the harbor not the inside,,,,And the dungeness crabs have to be 5 3/4 from side to side,,,,But I'm not sure of the size limit for rock crabs because I don't keep them,,,,,,"Best Regards"...
NICE CATCH1! i used to go there every weeek to crab but havent hit in awhile any suggestions for bait setup and location? i use a regular ring net and one of those box traps! and used squid,
"Thanks Man",,,,,It was hella fun to catch,,,,,,And about you going crabbing there,,,,"The crab bite is still happening but it has slowed down since last month",,,,,What I do when go crabbing is I use my rod and reel with a snare,,, "aka" (box trap) and squid or mackerel for bait,,,,,You should also try the rock wall in Pillar Point habor,,,,,I hope you catch,,,,"Good luck" when you decide to go,,,,,,"Peace"...
"Thank my friend",,,,And "damm",,,,I hope one day a 12 ft. thresher will bite on my line "but" until then I'm happy with this 7 1/2 footer,,,,Maybe in a few years I'll buy a boat again and fish in deeper waters where the big ones are at,,,,,The bigger thresher sharks mainly stay in deeper water here in northern California and the pier that I caught them on is only around 40 ft. deep,,,,"but' ya never know,,,,maybe I'll get a bigger one that is just passing by the pier,,,,"haahaa",,,,,"take care"
yes i do. i have 3 beef sticks (2 11 footer, and 1 12footer) I'm the guy that's helping him gaff the fish. its Medium Heavy, 17-40lbs ranges from 25-30 bucks.
@megook1301 That's awesome. I'm looking forward to getting the 12 footer with maybe, the Shimano baitrunner. As of now, I only have a 7 ft Ugly Stik Tiger with a Penn 321gti that I use for sturgeon and also, caught a few bat rays with it.
"Well that just depends",,,,,I went "three months" without even getting a bite,,,,then all of a sudden they appeared for a short period of time,,,and then just like that,,,,they were gone???,,,,,,,I wish I knew a better answer to give you but I don't,,,,,,but I will tell you that a some people fished for them for years and never even caught one,,,,,I think it was just a "lucky streak" that I was in at the time,,,,,"Best Regards"...
Man, I really gotta get that Beef Stick a try!! It's so cheap that I didnt even bother to look at it. Now, you've changed my mind, I want to buy one now. HAHA! Good catch bro!!
Hey thanks bro for the "thumbs up" on this video,,,,,,And "Yes",,,the good thing about my Beef stick Rods is that there "not" expensive and at the same time there hella strong rods,,,,,,,And I don't worry about scratching them,,,,"haahaaha",,,,,,,,"Peace"...
"What's up bro",,,,,,I gotta stay that you were a "very big" help in me landing this shark,,"thanks to your Master gaffing skills",,,,Your the "master gaffer" and I couldn't of done it without your help!!!,,,,,Can't wait until we catch some more sharks & other fishes!!!,,,,,,"Peace"...

This is a cool video! What was your line/bait/setup and hook an stuff?
3boredudes 1 year ago 6
Well for bait I use mackerels or sardines,,,,Then what I do is I cast out my line" first" with a spider weight and I anchor my weight in the sand,,,,,Then I slide down my leader with the float,,,,My leader is about 12 ft. long with a floater on it.,,,,Some people call my leader a "Trolley Rig",,,,,You can also google "Trolley Rig" for more info,,,,Best Regards....

b3llefor3va 1 year ago
Hey thanks man,,,,I'm glad you like my video,,,,And my opinion on the beefstick is that it's a great rod for the money,,,,,If it ever breaks for some reason it's no big deal because there not expensive to replace,,,,"Peace Always"...

wow! fantastic job landing the Thresher that size, especially at Pacifica. gotta thank u because this video takes me back to the 80's when i was a teenager, and when salmon was plentiful out at Pacifica Pier. I still remember a day when a school of Thresher's passed through and a good 10-12 were landed that day, but none were close to the size of yours. kudos again, man.
djhelladef 1 year ago 8
Hey thanks bro for the "thumbs up" on my video,,,,It's pretty fun fishing for these thresher sharks,,,,they fight really good,,,,"Yea" I remember in the 80's to when everybody was catching Salmon,,,,I wish that they were still around like they were then,,,,"Hopefully someday?",,,,But until that day comes I'll keep getting a work out with these thresher sharks,,,"haahaa",,,,,,,Take care and thanks again!!! hey what the rig you use ? and do u use braided line?
jorge1988 1 year ago 16
"Hey what's up",,,,My leader is 80 lbs test and has 3 sliding 1/2 oz. weights on my leader and it is about 12 ft. long with a swivel in the middle of the leader so that the sliding weights stay in the middle of the leader,,,And I also use a short wire leader connected to the hook so that the sharks don't cut my line with there teeth,,as they have done in the past,,,,"that's pretty much my leader set up",,,,And my fishing line is 100 lbs. Power Pro Braided,. Good luck when you go fishing!
SharkMan650 1 year ago
thanks ima go try that now

is pillar point the one near barbra shrimp shack? with the small pier? if it is i been there and only caught 3 red rock keepers in 4 hours... any other spots? hopefully im there nexx time u strike!! quick questions also whats the can we keep female crabs that aren't dugness and what are the legal sizes for dugeness and red rock?
any1feelintipsy 1 year ago 28
Hey there,,,,I think your talking about the little pier inside the harbor next to the boat ramps?,,,,Where I'm talking about is on the other side at that rock wall near where people launch there boats,,,,I walk half way out then cast on the "outside" of the harbor not the inside,,,,And the dungeness crabs have to be 5 3/4 from side to side,,,,But I'm not sure of the size limit for rock crabs because I don't keep them,,,,,,"Best Regards"...
SharkMan650 1 year ago
NICE CATCH1! i used to go there every weeek to crab but havent hit in awhile any suggestions for bait setup and location? i use a regular ring net and one of those box traps! and used squid,
any1feelintipsy 1 year ago 30
"Thanks Man",,,,,It was hella fun to catch,,,,,,And about you going crabbing there,,,,"The crab bite is still happening but it has slowed down since last month",,,,,What I do when go crabbing is I use my rod and reel with a snare,,, "aka" (box trap) and squid or mackerel for bait,,,,,You should also try the rock wall in Pillar Point habor,,,,,I hope you catch,,,,"Good luck" when you decide to go,,,,,,"Peace"...

Nice one dude. However, saw a guy catch one at least 12 feet here in saudi arabia. Weighed in at 300lbs!
coolestman6498 2 years ago 31
SharkMan650 2 years ago
Good fish dude been awhile since I've seen a thresher that size caught from a pier.

Jplicit just because its a cheap rod doesn't mean you cant catch a 7 footer :]
megook1301 2 years ago 54
Yes, I know, I get it, I dont need you to telling me. Do you have that Daiwa Beef Stick to know?
Jplicit 2 years ago 34
yes i do. i have 3 beef sticks (2 11 footer, and 1 12footer) I'm the guy that's helping him gaff the fish. its Medium Heavy, 17-40lbs ranges from 25-30 bucks.
megook1301 2 years ago 32
@megook1301 That's awesome. I'm looking forward to getting the 12 footer with maybe, the Shimano baitrunner. As of now, I only have a 7 ft Ugly Stik Tiger with a Penn 321gti that I use for sturgeon and also, caught a few bat rays with it.
Jplicit 2 years ago 30
nice man how long did it take to get a bite from it?
xDaRkBeAsTxx 2 years ago 39
"Well that just depends",,,,,I went "three months" without even getting a bite,,,,then all of a sudden they appeared for a short period of time,,,and then just like that,,,,they were gone???,,,,,,,I wish I knew a better answer to give you but I don't,,,,,,but I will tell you that a some people fished for them for years and never even caught one,,,,,I think it was just a "lucky streak" that I was in at the time,,,,,"Best Regards"...
