Not to mention that mounting a vertical axis generator in a horizontal position would make it the least efficient of all turbines because it would only generate electricity when the wind hits it precisely head-on. A "C" for effort.

Predominant winds are studied before installation.Mountains direct winds to the passes.If the wind is not exactly perpendicular the turbine captures the perpendicular projection.
