These pack a good punch, but. since the "bomb" is in water and water can't be compressed, the energy created by the bomb forces the water away from the explosion. Seeing as the bomb was at the bottom of the barrel it was easier for the energy to split the plastic than to lift the weight of all that water out of the top of the barrel.

Sweet. Explosion at 0:46. Basically what happens is the dry ice bomb goes off and the explosion pushes the water to the sides. And since the water has no where to go, the trash can ruptures. Next one put in a fish tank. Great vid BTW.
