You may want to mention that a PHOTOELECTRIC smoke detector will cut nusiance alarms by 95%And they will actually sound about 30 minutes sooner then an ionization model in a smoldering fire, the kind most likely to kill you in your sleep. Ionization alarms have severe drawbacks when it comes to the rate of nusiance alarms, and the lack of detecting "Cold Smoke" from a smoldering Fire.

IAFF just endorced Photoelectric if you need to have a stand alone.

In case you are wondering why I didn't go and buy the replacement batteries myself. I am recovering from major surgery and can't drive.

I told my Dad that I didn't go through that surgery to die in a fire and I am not being a drama queen. Btw-we use Duracell batteries. I think they are the best ones, correct?

This is ironic! Just this week I thought I'd push the test buttons on all of our detectors and noticed the basement detectors were DEAD. I proceeded throughout the house and ALL of the detectors were dead. I hounded my father until he did something about it. We slept 2 nights WITHOUT working detectors. I truly was scared. I wonder if we have 10 year batteries in Canada. I'm going to check. Merry Christmas Dad!! EXCELLENT video. I want my father to see this. 5 stars.
