  • This is my state song. You sing it very well, do you have a CD?

  • Your playing and voice sound beautiful!

Would you play at my next party?

    :-) ;-) :-)

  • First heard this song in the 1940's on an old Victorola machine, wind-up kind, no electricity, but beautiful sound.

  • Wow, love this rendition of this song, I had to subscribe will be back later and check out some more of your fabulous work.

  • I was taught this song back in the mid-eighties in elementary school, and every now again it becomes stuck in my head again. This time around I looked at YouTube for a fix. Thanks for giving a middle-aged Missouri boy a good dose of his state's song.

  • What a nice job!

A comment or two made about the "revised' lyrics. In fact, you could hear the COLLIER KIDS back in the mid '50s using the revised words...

Back in the original version...it was "the darkies were humming.." instead of "the old folks"...That's ok..

  • Absolutely lovely voice... please keep the songs coming. Also love the song. I heard it as an answer on Jeopardy and I was curious about it. Well worth the search and listening to your version.

  • Excellent . one of the best versions I have heard of a beautiful waltz .

    Roger

  • You have a beautiful voice and I love your cover of the Johnny Cash version. Would you would mind posting the chords if you have them available. Thanks

  • Nice song from a very pretty lady! It seems that this venerable old classic is almost always heard as an insturmental. Its good to hear the lyrics for a change.

  • I am a Hoosier, but Mom was born & raised in Sullivan County, Missourah... I often listen to this young lady sing this piece; part of the beauty is the guitar and voice, but her face is so tenderly expressive, it makes me feel the lyrics.

    Hoosier

  • I just keep listening to this girl. She can sing anything and make it sound good. Shes a keeper <<<<<<<

  • These ain't the right lyrics.

  • the lyrics have been cleaned-up some here, i'm sure as not to offend anyone as, the old days are the old days and in the past, niggaturd.

  • Hi Stacey!

    your voice is so sweet! You're definitely a J. Cash's daughter !

And... your voice reminds me Edith Piaf, i don't know why.

    Nice to meet you,

    Alex

  • Technically, both versions are right. The confusion comes from the Missouri Indian Tribe. Different sects of the tribe would say the name differently. I use both versions depending on the situations I'm in.

  • No, actually only rural Missourians say "Missourah." Urban Missourians and young people say "Missouree."

  • I'm a rural Missourian, and I pronouce it "Missouree." No one around Jefferson City says "Missourah"

  • I punch people that say "missourah" in the face

  • Comment removed

  • I Love Missouri.

    Duhh, I Live Here[:

  • Fab -- but remember, they say "Missourah"

  • You have a beautiful voice and and great phrasing. You can sing me to sleep anytime!
