I was taught this song back in the mid-eighties in elementary school, and every now again it becomes stuck in my head again. This time around I looked at YouTube for a fix. Thanks for giving a middle-aged Missouri boy a good dose of his state's song.

Back in the original version...it was "the darkies were humming.." instead of "the old folks"...That's ok..

Technically, both versions are right. The confusion comes from the Missouri Indian Tribe. Different sects of the tribe would say the name differently. I use both versions depending on the situations I'm in.
