I was in kolkata in winters of 2006. sweet people, sweet food, love, affection, belongingness in the air. whom so ever you are this city will open her arm for you, will provide you with utmost care. I am planning to visit this place again since long but never made it. I am thankful to God that I can say once in my life I lived in Kolkata, memories are forever.
i left calcutta or cal as v used to call it wid love ....almost 20 years now but apparently my heart is still there ......u just cannot take out the calcutta outta me
its okay sandra to dislike kolkata for you as you've mentioned you have bad memories of it and liking and disliking is subjective and its okay. hopefully if ever you visit kolkata again, you get good memories of it. because i know it is an amazing place, full of colours and warmth. and hopefully you'll learn not to judge something just because of few/many instances :) coz if billions of people india or abroad love the place, it has to have something positive about it.god bless you!

Calcutta is a mystery, you can never hate it for long. You will eventually make peace with the place no matter what. Trust me.
