Something to consider is that Gael is very young in this video. I do agree that Ekaterina Lobaznyuk's version is stronger but Ekaterina was much older and more refined. I feel that if Gael had this routine now, instead of 2004, it would be much cleaner and more moving.
katya's version is more entertaining gael doesn't sell it like lobaznyuk did. this person just doesn't look like shes is enjoying the routine the same way
A repeat routine like this just doesn't work IMO, because not only was Katya in a completely different league as a gymnast, but she had insane style and individuality - more so than most of her Olympic-caliber competitors. So it's a double whammy against Gael trying to repeat it.
i agree... i definately prefer katya's version. She just seemed to have a way of performing it that completely drew me in. Gael's routine bored me a little, to be completely honest. Which is strange, because it's the same music and the choreography is very similar. Just shows how some gymnasts can absolutely sell a routine.

I think a hand-me-down routine is fine as long both gymnasts do the routine well. For a good routine, it's sad never to be able to see it again once the gymnast who originally did it moves on. I prefer Katya's choreography and performance. She worked those folk dance steps for all they were worth. In comparison, Gail's movements seemed sluggish and incomplete, at times.

Gael's choreo is not bad though. But still, she needs more practice with her execution.

Only 2 passes? Okay then. Lobaznyuk's is better IMO, but she is definatly having fun with the routine, thats good :)
