You would do well to get an Input to plug in direct so we can actually hear if what your playing is clean and legitimate. perhaps a Line-6 Pod XT, or just Guitar-Port. Direct-In is the way to go! Perhaps a higher frame rate camera...
With you on that one as well, I certainly hope they are being sarcastic! lol! But then again, beauty is in the eye of the beholder and what one may consider musical or not may vary from individual to individual. MERRY CHRISTMAS WORLD AND A HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!! = ]
so you can play fast (faster than me for sure :), congratulations, but why be a dick about it? cheer up and just play cause if you're so high and mighty, what should Joe Stump say :))
Most correct you are Sir. Do please forgive my rude, juvenile behavior and past comment- which I have removed because truly, it does not reflect my personal stance. It was written out of sheer patience being finally tested as the World is so, so very quick to state completely erroneous statements such as: 100bpm is 4 notes per second, etc. When I have to take the time to explain to someone stuck on pointling out completely WRONG math problems, you might expect a little sarcasm
REGARDLESS, others are watching and reading, I am making a statement and as such, I have to rise above it all and take a look at the bigger picture. I was wrong and Thank You most kindly and sincerely for taking the time to point that out. You words have touched me in the way that they should and I hear them loudly. Most sincerely, I thank you for the consideration and your point of view- because it is RIGHT.
These are the words that Randall Padilla would say. I thank you most humbly for re-directing me in the manner in which I should know by now. Have a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year = ]
You are the very first person to recognize something so plainly visible and, 'Me'. I love the color black, it fits my mood most of the time, I just love the color.
You are 100% correct, something isn't quite right here: You have FAR too much time on your hands which, if applied diligently to your own endeavors, may one day yield you the ability to play this fast (if that so be your intention). = )
@randypadilla209 Okay, I'm a Valedictorian that is part of the 1% of the population that can bench press twice their body wt! I've studied Jeet Kune Do for 6 years and I have a medical degree! I'm soon to get a masters and when I graduated I carried a double major. The second was in psychology. And I play guitar! Btw, why do you think you didn't you address the mouth bit?! I'm just very observant and you couldn't have been more wrong about me having too much time! Now leave it at that.
@oilkills Hey great for you, how commendable! What's with the mouth part anyway? Point in being, which I passive-aggressively presented, is that you are in fact posting your ridiculous jibberish because you do in fact wish you played this fast, am I correct? Be honest, it's ok. If I could send you a hug to make ya feel better, I would = )
I have a question, do you directional pick or alternate? I used to do directional a.k.a economy picking but I'm trying to learn alternate aswell. Which is best for fast playing? Cause with directional I can play much faster than alternate but I guess I'm just not used to alternating.
I have only mastered 24 notes per second on alternate picking though. you would count that by playing 64th note triplets at 60 bpm. if u want to be really accurate then try playing at 240 bpm. just convert the chart i gave u in the last comment. Good luck man, ur a pretty awesome guitarist and i wasnt trying to say that ur way of counting notes per second is wrong, i was just saying that there is an easier way to do it. (at least that's my opinion, but everyone's entitled to their own!!!)
Hopefully ur aware that there's a much easier way of counting notes as long as u stay at a steady pace. set a metronome for 60 bpm so each beat equals a second.
quarter note = 1 note per second
8th notes = 2 notes per second
16th notes = 4 notes per second
32nd notes = 8 notes per second
64th notes = 16 notes per second
128th notes = 32 notes per second
256th notes = 64 notes per second
etc.....
i have mastered 32 notes per second (cleanly) but nobody believes im actually playing this fast!!
how do you tell how many notes your playing a second? because i can play damn fast but its to fast for me to tell how many im actually playing a second lol
Great question. It is very easy to tell: If you play 6 notes per beat, the rhythmic grouping sounds like a "tee-ter-totter", like a see-saw. It begins on each beat of a metronome. Simple math of 6 X bpm = how many per minute, then divide by 60secs = notes per second.
BTW, try to record guitar sound directly to the computer, it have much greater quality, and much less noise. You can try to connect your amplifier to a PC, or use Guitar Rig programm.
Yeah, camera mic. The video is clearer than my other disasters-(!) but it's still a camera mic. In real life it sounds like a Popsicle stick in bicycle spokes being spun, real clear.
My RP350 goes directly to the computer via USB- this was shot at my work in my teaching studio.
I believe in the philosophy of 'to find the shortest path up the mountain, ask the one who travels it everyday.'
Meaning, I asked those that do editing everyday for a living, I shut my mouth & listened intently, I learn that way. It saves a lot of time. Many of us approach much in life with preconceptions, a "I know ALL of this" attitude- and they quickly get nowhere very fast.
Thank you for noticing; I have much to learn still.
@nixellion It's easy to make 3 notes per string sounds fast. Try play that BPM stretching over 2 notes per string. Not taking anything away from this guy, he has good technique, hopefully not a sweeping/3note copy cat.
Hopefully people will see/hear for themselves and make their own judgments based upon the facts. The video is clear enough, the playing is there and the playing speaks for itself I believe.
brutally shitty tone and altogether too pleased with himself for no good reason. Speed kills.

YES IT IS FAST BUT IT SOUNDS STUPID! WHY INSTEAD OF WANTING TO PLAY FAST FOCUS ON PLAYING WELL??

@johanlr:
I have actually focused on both aspects of playing.
If you have a moment, please go check out "The Time Has Come", which is a piece that I wrote.
