No, he is right. The new Rhodes sounds clanky in person. It sounds exactly like a spray paint can being shaked. A classic model done right is much warmer. It's the shrill tines they used and it's not going to get any better untill they use better tines.
THIS NEW RHODES SUCKS.. i tried it... one sound... two knobs.. no effects at all not even tremelo....on the model i tried....... and almost 5k.... good luck rhodes
show some respect, its Tara Busch! you need to hear her song "motorcrash", she can sing and play phenomenally well, it might just be one of my favorite trip-hop-esque lounge tracks I have ever heard.
Oops! I was wrong. I found Rhodes webbsite. Looks like they are available for between $2,995-$4,995, depending on which model you get, 63, 77, or 88 keys, and other features.
It's rhodes piano, etc., they don't let you give web addresses on You Tube. However, I was mistaken, again. Their website is up, and displays the products that they will carry, but the Rhodes Store window is not yet functioning.
P.S. I saw a quote in a trade magazine that said the company would be making the Mark 7 available to the public in June, but they appear to have missed this date. I'm guessing that they are probably still working out the complicated details involved in getting a complex manufacturing operation off the ground that has been dorment for nearly a quarter century.
P.P.S. I hope that the reason for missing the premier date wan't because they failed to obtain the full capitalization to start up. Given the world economic crisis and the skittishness of consumers currently, potential investors may just decide to hang tough until these hard times pass and the economy picks up again. That could mean that it might be another couple of years before these babies hit the stores. :-(
Whoa, you can get three vintage minimoogs or ten Farfisas for that price.
So this is a new model, I suppose, since it's sold in a trade show. It's cool they kept the retro look, but the purple light around the knob kind of ruins it.

I haven't heard her play, but she has very poor finger posture.
