elsamuraiguapo...i also took my written with the sapd on 8/13. as a matter of fact, we just had our pat this past saturday. results will be available in 2 weeks. i am also applying to the chp and will take their written test on 9/12. i believe they are having an orientation on 9/2 and 9/9.

I just watched the latest version of academy blues (this full version). It put the chills through my body!!!! Cant wait to go to the explorer academy in a few months.

I know, I realize now that the CHP isn't for me though. Local LE is more of my thing, so I'm actually going to be applying with several local agencies here in Southern CA. Starting with the Santa Ana PD, I'm gonna go take the written test on the 13th, I'm kind of excited, although I doubt I'll get picked up right away.

What about you? Do you plan on becoming a CHP officer? If so, have you already started the process? If not, are you going to be applying soon?

Mostly the fact that CHP, like most state highway patrols, is a special purpose law enforcement agency, whereas local departments are general service LE agencies.

You can look up the differences yourself, as it is far too much to fit in a youtube comment.

Where did you hear that? It says on their website it's continual, and the only hiring contract expires in 2011, which they'll more than likely renew.

yeah...the cadets physically exercise about 3 days a week and training time is from 8 am to 5 am....isn't that right?

The CHP is definitely a 10. It is probably THE toughest law enforcement training academy in the world.

CHP ARE STATE POLICE. They don't catch on fire when they get off the highway. They also assist sheriffs in county areas and act as the Governors secret service. CHP officers patrol and protect the capitol and golden gate bridge.
