  • huh?? why wud sony themselves put up an unboxing video??... why did they "box" it in the first place?? lol

  • Hey Sony just dropped the price of the Daily Reader to $349 which brings it down $50. It still cost more than the Kindle, but then again, you can get info from your library on the Sony while you can't on the Kindle.

  • Well she is very beautiful, has a wonderful sounding voice, and nice hands. Very nice smile too. Oh yeah sorry we are talking about the Daily Edition. It is the nicest E Reader I have tried.

  • Those Sony eReaders are nothing compared to the Nook and Kindle.

  • You're right. They're much better. Much more portable (fits in the back pocket of all my pants), the screen has a brighter background, don't have goofy battery draining LCD that more often than not gets in the way of navigation than aids it, have a longer lasting battery, and you can open a lot more formats than only AWZ and PDF. Imagine that, opening plain text without paying someone money to convert it first.

  • @Angiebby22 y because u have one?

  • Terrible! Did not show all contents of the box. Utter Fail!!

  • We did do a second unboxing to show all the contents.... will be back with a link for ya.

  • is there a drawing section on the daily like on the

    regular touch?

  • yeap I come literally every night with the hope to find the long waited video and compare it with all the others ereaders but NOTHING... it is the only one that is missing from my list and withought reviews and actully all the good stuff I cant make up my mind. ummmmm

  • We're sorry for the delay but we were able to get our hands on a Daily and tape another video. Thanks for being so patient. Let us know what you think.

  • omg is taking like 4 ever to see another review of the daily....

  • @ninik09 for real i know! this is like one of the only ones!

  • I was wondering well I am 4 sure getting this one but I have one question, I have purshased my ebooks from the barnsandnobles web book store, will I be able to reed them in the sony daily edition?

  • I am want one of those for christmas (no homo)... I hear Amazons Kindle is better (no idea why) but ergonomically from what I can see Sony's reader looks a alot better. Any idea why e-readers in general cost so much money?

  • Nice to know someone read my comment. If you are offended by it, thats your problem. Seriously you can't tell me you haven't seen the phrase being used everywhere prior to reading my comment.

  • Comment removed

  • The fact that that little phrase has offended you to the degree it has has shown me your maturity. I accepted my wrong in understood your first comment, but the fact that you still continue your random personal attacks shows me that you are the one that needs to act their age. Listen Candy, continue your e-reviews and mind your own business. Seriously, you have nothing better to do but scam comments on other users videos and try and parent people that are posting outside the norm you accept?

  • Way to show your intelligence. Seriously how old are you, and what's your highest level of education?

  • Comment removed

  • *yawn*

  • Removed your shameful previous comments eh? I say no homo in a manner that isn't directed to anyone and in a way that should not be offensive at all. You call me mentally challenged, which shows me that you are an uneducated hypocrite. You preach about offending people and living in the 21st century yet your idiotic self uses handicaps as insults. You are truly pathetic. I saw your video to, you are really unattractive and I can see why you are so hostile. Insecure bitch go get a job/life.

  • Hey Kurd, learn to spell you dirtbag.

  • is the best you could come up with, i bet you used all the neurons functioning in ur tiny brain to come up with this.

  • still no new videos put up. :(

  • On the sony ebook store customer service pages, it definitely says you can only use the store if you are in the US or Canada, but that if you live in the UK you can use the store there. I suspect it's to do with international publishing rights - that's the international kindle's problem . Does it have wifi? I want one so badly!

  • When will it come to the UK? Any dates?!

  • Not sure, but you can purchase it at an authorized dealer that ships outside the US! Once thing to note, wireless access is limited to the US only.

  • Thanks for the reply, waiting to read couple of full reviews from people like PC Pro and CNET. Dont want to order it then be disappointed(highly unlikely but just in case). If I wasnt to purchase this one, then ill definitely purchase the Touch Edition.

  • The PS3, the PSP, cameras, software etc, none of these have similar markups. In fact, on most items, the prices are identical. Not sure why Canadian Readers are so expensive.

It's the only reason I've not made the purchase yet and despite the library loans reason, am still considering other options.

A shame really, because I would love to get one before travelling for the holidays but prices seem artificially inflated in Canada and Readers seem to never go on sale. :(

  • I live in Hong Kong and we can't access the sony ebook store here. I'm guessing I can still upload books from other stores, using the pc connection, but it seems like it should be less expensive if you're not going to use the wireless feature.

  • Not sure why you can't access, strange. You should have access to the Sony Ebookstore regardless of where you live from any computer with an internet connection. Also, with the reader EPUB format, you're not limited to just the Sony Ebook store, that means you can shop at any Ebook store supporting that format. There any bookstores and sources available to you and for Daily users in the US, 3G wireless access is available at no additional cost or monthly fees, other than the cost of the books.

  • Is it possible to have wikipedia on it? An online, or perhaps an offline, wikipeida would be a lovely feature to have. If it doesn't have it now, could further update bring this feature? I know I'm asking too many questions, but any answer would be very appreciated.

  • I cannot wait to own one of these.

  • Yes, this is a very promising product, but does it have wifi access like the one at home or at the office? If yes, I would buy one instantly. Besides this looks a lot better than that heavily (cheap) plastic looking kindle 2. Do reply quickly.

  • Hi, it's wireless access through 3G network. But the good news is that it is at zero cost to an owner. Daily owners can access the Sony eBook Store thru 3G for free (so where your cell phone works in the US, a Daily should work).

  • Will the user be able to access the Google and local library sites as well?

  • I so need to try this out!

Annotations are a must for my line of work. Not just a device that will allow me to read the text, but to make notations.

  • Went to the Sony Store and I was extremely disappointed with the PRS-600 glare issues. It just doesn't look as good as the PRS-505. If the PRS-900 is in any way similar to the PRS-600, I and I believe a whole lot of people will not be interested.

  • Really? The Daily uses a newer, better screen technology than the 505 but we should have Reader Daily units in stores to check out soon. It's always good to kick the tires a bit - especially on a gadget like this you'll take everywhere. Once they arrive in stores, I'll be sure to update.

  • Hi does it allow to it to rotate screen clockwise? That is: does it allow you to change the orientation on the other side that the Lady in the video demonstrated?

Hope you can answer me! Thanks a bunch!!!!

  • Hi, happy to help -Yes it allows you to change to horizontal view :-)

  • More videos of this. pls pls pls...

  • Exported highlights will show only 100 characters. So if you have highlighted two or three sentences you can only see a small portion of what you have highlighted. Many people want to be able to use an e-reader professionally/ academically. We want to be able to highlight portions of a book and not have to retype what we have highlighted. I am aware publishers are concerned about books being illegally copied. Surely somebody can come up with a solution and we can all be happy.

  • Sweet Jesus ur precious

  • Does it have a color display?

  • Hi, good question - the Reader Daily does not display in color

  • ahhh I was really gonna get this one but now I will have to wait untill next christmas as I already got my christmas prsent and it is not an e-reader... but oh well I am so happy all the same..

  • There has been a lot of negative comments mainly on the glare issues of the other Sony touch screen readers. I'm really interested in getting this reader, but the glare issue is sort of holding me back to purchasing it on Sony's website. there's only like 1 review of this device on Youtube which really is annoying. Please tell us more about the screen matters specially about the glare condition. thanks.

  • The Reader Daily uses a new technology called E Ink Vizplex screen technology -it's the latest gen of E Ink's microencapsulated ink imaging film-it's a high-res display that can be easily read in multiple light environments including direct sunlight. You can also adjust the text size. PC mag has a great article on lots of digital books out there (including seeing how Sony Readers stack up) Hope this info helps.

  • Wow, that's a nice big screen. I think Sony is getting somewhere with this new Reader. 2010 is going to be an interesting year for ebook readers, with attractive offers from Amazon, Barnes & Noble and Sony.

Could this be the Kindle killer?

  • I would like to challenge Sony to do a comprehensive video of the Sony Daily Edition, for it appears this video is most likely a publicity hook to keep patrons interested until its fairly late arrival in late December/January. What troubles me about this video is it does not allow us to see the refresh rate, nor any of its expected features, and instead only seems to feed off the image of actual unboxing reviews to give the appearance of actually existing in the real world.

  • good feedback, thanks for the specifics in what you'd like to see. Getting this Daily to do a video was hard to get but we'll beg, borrow, steal for another one to show and will create another video. It might take a bit but you'll see one :-) thanks again for offering the feedback.

  • Thank you so much that would be great to have more videos and a more understanding of the daily... I think so far this one is my winner... still one big question is if the reader will be available b4 christmas I definetely want my reader waiting 4 me under the tree... jijijiji... cant hardly wait to get my hands on one of this...

  • I can understand that :-) Right now we have the Daily available for pre-order on Sony Style with shipments expected in Dec. Pre-orders get filled in the order they are taken so best chances are to get in early. Hope this helps and we'll get working on another video.

  • I would like to know when will I be able to buy the Daily Edition reader in US stores?

  • I dont know I was going 4 the nook too, but then I saw the alex it has what I was looking 4 but the looks is killing it, then I saw the kindle dx wich I think is nice but still you are bound there to get only the books purshaced on amazon and the sony daily edition let you use google and public library wich is a plus and then add up with the sony book store wich is ok. I wish to see more videos of this sony reader soon.. I definetely want to make up my mind bf christmas.

  • Thanks for the request - we'll work on more Daily videos for everyone

  • Can we get a longer video of this model?

I'd like to see more of the Daily Edition.

It's the flagship model, so let's see MORE!

  • very very bad unboxing video!!!!!!

  • I don't know, I like it.

  • What you like dude??? A girl?! Girl is ok, but not unboxing video. Its a publicity with a pretty girl. If you like to see real unboxing videos, just look in youtube.

  • muhaaa im getting the nook it gonna be so much better

  • Comment removed

  • no way.

the nook looks so cheap and gimmicky.

this one wastes it for me because this one allows me full control for annotations.

nook is clumsy with its arrow buttons. I want one that is the most like a real book, and a stylus fits perfectly.

  • ok so the nook is garbage then tell me why it is sold out and no one can get it before the holidays unless you preordered it a week ago? and it going to kill the kindle and sony ive seen both of them in person and used them.

  • just because something sells out does not necessarily mean it's good, number 1. secondly, if you still think that popularity is the barometer of a good product, then this Sony will soon be sold out, and the Touch edition (without any wireless capabilities no less!) is all ready backordered. I cannot get one of these if I wanted to.

The Daily Edition's going to be sold out as well before the holidays.

It all depends on what you need it for. If you don't need annotations, fine, go for the Nook.

  • you also mention that you used both the kindle and the sony, and that the Nook will waste both of them, but here's a question: Have you used the Nook?

if not, well, how do you figure it will waste either one of them, or both?

  • yeah cause the nook has a lot of more features than the kindle or the sony.

  • Will there be any color choices, or are they all black?

  • If it becomes a true Kindle rival, I'm sure Colorware PC will start offering custom paint jobs for it.

  • Hi, right now the only color offered is black but if you have other color requests, I'd be happy to pass the requests along.

  • Great! Well, I think a Daily Edition in Navy would be amazing.

Do you know if the e-book selection will be increasing?

I speak for myself, but I'm sure others would love to get a reader and start reading, but the electronic book selection is still not up to modern bookstores.

I'm into literary fiction, and the electronic resources I have seen do not offer a great selection as of yet.

But yes, thank you. Navy would be incredible. I would buy it right away...LOL.

  • Thx for sharing & passed the color request to the Reader Team- Re:books, was there a particular book you couldn't find? The Sony eBook Store carries a ton of best sellers & new books. Also as ebooks grow in popularity, more content is added. But...the thing which is nice about the Sony Readers is that it's not just limited to getting books from the Sony eBook Store. Owners can purchase and download books from any ebookstore that supports the EPUB format. Hope this info helps!

  • Aaaaahhhh!

I NEED one of these. I have to have back surgery because I work at a library. I would die to be able to put even a quarter of my home library on to this device. ... And to be able to annotate as well? What a dream!

  • hmm looks very thick!!
