Of course The Armada can not beat The Tea Party anyway, nevertheless it is quite nice to listen to their music. There will never be a band like The Tea Party, but many others being great in their ways of making music, for example this one. :)
The story goes that Burrows & Stuart wnated to take the band into more main stream rock areas, instead of the progressive rock that was the tea party. The change can be seen in the bands less popular later sound. Jeff Martin was disappointed that they were more interested in making more $, instead of the great music that they did together. It seems that it left Jeff Martin quite sour about how it went down. He has said that there is NO possibility for a tea party reunion now.
If you listen closely hes sending messeages to what I think is his former band mates in this song, if you listen closely between 2:30 - 4:48 I think hes sending a message there.
I miss the Tea Party. Transmission was a damn masterpiece. This stuff is WAY better than exile though. I was starting to actually become concerned about his writing abilities...but this is much better.
It's really good music. I do fucking miss The Tea Party. I know their last few albums were different. But I mean that was how they were, experimental. But I wonder is there more to the story than just artistic differnces?
i have a theory about this song. if you've followed jeff martin from the tea party you'll understand that the break-up of the band felt arbitrary with reasons like "artistic differences".
this is definitely a message either to the fans or to stuart chatwood/burrows themselves. "sentimental, foolish friend, where's your bucket of gold" - reference to them wanting to go more commercial. seriously, draw your own conclusions.
listening to this makes me wonder if it was them who really wanted to go more commercial. this song is generic comparing to anything you'll find on, say, splendor solis.
@TheDeschenes I see where ur going with that. The Tea Party was kind of going commercial, but I really wish that The Armada had the same amazing sound and genius that earlier music of The Tea Party had.

I am sure Jeff Martin loved the Tea Party too. However, being sentimental gets you nowhere.

Anyone hear the rumor that the Tea Party are getting back together?

Yes we all miss The Tea Party, but I highly doubt Jeff will go back. Hell... As long as he's making music, I'm satisfied.

@blisstwist Yeah I was severely disappointed with Exile and the Kingdom
However I was more disappointed with Seven Circles. That album makes me mad, I hate it so much
Transmission is by far my favourite Tea Party album. Just, the anger, frustration and overall surrealism of it.
