This gun was imported by Colt during the early 1960's as an R&D piece when Colt was designing something to furnish the military. The M-60 was ultimately selected. This particular gun was marked as an MG-42 but set up in factory .308 using a heavy bolt feature developed for the Italians to slow the rate of fire from 1,200 to about 900 rpm. There are actually about 6 of these guns in the registry. This one was mine when the video was made.
Lots of veterans collected them after WWII in Russia. It was not unusual to keep a weapon like this as a trophy, but when the law on the ban of the use of fire arms came out in 1950s lots of them were donated to the museums or were hidden in the cellars.

It's sure shooting slow. Must be shooting 7.62x51 Nato instead of 8mm. You have a heavy bolt in that gun? My MG-42 shoots almost twice as fast.
