not quite. the principles behind the StG were different than the AK-47. the Germans preferred precise intermediate range fire, so the StG is a compromise between power and range. the Soviets didn't care about precision, they just wanted something that could spray bullets. the G3 and G36 are better weapons, but haven't won or lost any wars by themselves. same with other great weapons like the Sig SG550 or L85.

Yep, the M16 had to be fixed about 30 (?) times before it became a good rifle. But the M16 is one of my favorites in the way it looks (directly behind the G36)!BTW, i´m german, i have been with the german infantry for 2 years and i have tested a lot of rifles, so i had to note them!
I'm horrified at their pick as #1. The AK-47 Assault Rifle shouln't be #1. The m14 Enhanced Battle Rifle should get number one.

SA58 is one of the best, M16 is average. Ak is very good, but sa58 is the best of best, but isn't known in world. Only CZ 858-half automatic version.
