The reason the PSP graphics look decent is because they are on like a 4X3 inch screen. If you stretch them out to a normal sized TV, they would look like PS1 graphics... I have played both PSP and PS2s, and the PS2 graphics OWN any PSP graphics.

That is tough choice. First of all, psp and the ps2 are now about the same price. PS2 obviously has better hardware and graphics, but only by a relatively small margin. If you can get a PSP go, I would say get the Go because it is better than a regular psp, (no fulling around with umds and better media options). PS2 has more game selection, but PSP only has a few really outstanding games. In the end it comes to whether you want to sit in front of your TV and have nice controls and graphics

I'd personally get the PS2 since I prefer to play my games on a big screen. Also, the games on the PS2 are way cheaper than PSP games. Also, the PS2 have a wider selection of games to choose from, and lots of them are awesome! There are only a couple of awesome PSP games.

My story: I bought a PlayStation 2 roughly two days ago and it's not a waste of money. I recommend the ratchet and clank games as well as the metal gears. Those are in my opinion the best games on the console.
