I wish that I was good enough to criticize these master's playing. I am sure that they played this same tune for thousands of times. Why do they need to play it the same way another time? They are taking risks, creating new melody lines spontaneously, and having fun! I am sure that they can play near perfectly by playing the same old way which you will approve, but why should they? This is improvisation, not perfection, but creativity, and not text book playing. It's jazz and it's improvisation
Please remember when you are viewing these videos that you are not veiwing the live performance. Factors like your connection and computer may lead you to think that what you see here compares with what you would get at a live performance, and I know that neither of these great artists play sloppy.
.. I prefer Bucky's chord solo to anything else on this track. Howard's speedy single note solo does not say much, and at times they are both too busy, thus losing the melodic feel.
The apple doesn't fall far from the tree indeed...bucky and john are very similar in style esp on chord solos.have to say the first half is pretty sloppy, particularly howard alden's solo..
They're both Benedettos made when Bob Benedetto was making guitars through Fender- the Howard Alden Signature Model(now produced as the Bambino Deluxe at the new Benedetto company) and the Bucky Pizzarelli Signature model
pizzarelli stylee, bucky is master and legendd

Its funny that this is the first post I read before I decided to post.
I was about to post how impressed I was with how accurate, tasteful, and soulful the playing was.
