  • Real raw Rap in its pure essence

  • FUCKING BASS LINE IS SICK!

  • I made a video for one of my favourite old school tracks, search you tube for Butt Naked .. Dr Jeckyll and Mr Hyde

  • Political Gong Show lolol

  • IranIranIranIranIranIranIran!

  • Most of the people that say this is wack probably lack perspective. It's hard for someone that can't relate to the era or vibe that was present when the music was made. This record was strictly east coast. You probably would not have heard this when released unless you were in the NY area in 1980. I would not categorize this as preachy. They rapped for a minute about Iran to display versatility. In the late 70's and early 80's, everyone felt the energy crisis, so it fit.

  • Got tons of original old school joints from the early 80's for sale, hit me if interested.I also have this for sale.

  • finally!

  • yes, hip hop from the old school, was more fun & enjoyable to listen to than the stuff we hear now in 2010. but remember, if any type of music doesn't continue to change & evolve with the times, it will fade out-just like dico music & rock & roll music. shit, does club or house music even exist anymore?

  • @sasquatch13ja That's from a purely marketing/commercial standpoint. Art transcends all that. The only real "fading" going on is the quality of music that is so called "evolving with the times". There is nothing NEW about "new music".

  • @Therealjoey713 that's what she said

  • Shit is gay as fuck!

  • The second verse taught me a little.

  • This shit is wack. & b 4 u all start saying shit I'm not a kid. I'm 40 & love the old school. But not everything was hot back then. I would have thought this was wack back in the dayz as well.

  • @sonofsam717 This is hot. They were talking about the current issues of the day in 1980. The was years before Public Enemy and other conscience rappers. At least you can dance to it if you dont like the message.

  • @rockjohnson80 :

Yeah I hear ya & it's all good. Not disin the message. But as a "JAM" it's wack. My parents once brought me a politically conscious record way back when to try and show me an alternative to the hard stuff I was listing to. That was wack too. I don't listen to hip hop for a lesson in current affairs. We have the news for that. I listen for a tight ass beat and crazy flows. Even back then. This joint would not have (and never did) play @ n e jams or parties I ever went to or DJ'd.

  • @sonofsam717 I feel you. There is a sound for everybody but in 1980 this was the sound in disco's and clubs. It's a rare groove but im sure in NYC it was hard to get played at parties with all the competiton.

  • now i know why i love old school :)

  • I liked the rap in 1979, because of music like this. Because the oldschool has much funk. No funk = no hip hop ! The rap of today got nothing to do with it.

  • @tedfresh67 What about Oakland rappers like Too Short and Digital Underground? Funky as hell!

  • hate today's SHIT

  • But this is product by newyork?

  • real shit!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • WOOOOOOOOOOOOORD UP FROM DENMARK!

  • message to iran let our people go lol so funny

  • 1980 was da year! Old skool is da best

  • DR. JECKYLL & MR. HYDE!

  • Is that Andre Harrell?

  • Whats the song that goes (hey everbody have you got what it take well rap it up rap it up rap it up

  • YEAHHH

  • i love how they're rappin about President Carter, Iran, the Ayatollah Khomeini and the Shah. You rarely hear MC's today rap about anything other than greed, luxary and crime.

  • That's because the Old school was the true school. A school is where you go to learn but the old school brought the learning to you. Can you dig?????

  • The were aware of the issues and hip.

  • @goutdelicieux apart from the uk, thats where hip hop is now

  • @goutdelicieux it comes from the top : Make those Hip-Hop guy's stop exposing our business "For Chrys sake!!".

  • that quiet fender rhodes funkiness makes me shiver, timeless classic!

  • They took the music from Aleem - Hooked on Your Love.... love both of them..

  • One of the best true skool jams, in my humble opinion.

  • Nice! "Harlem World Crew Doing The Do". Jeckyl and Hyde before Profile records, I love it.
