It was originally a term used in a book called the third wave and people used it to call something futuristic, and it had nothing to do with music. Do you think JXL clasifies himself as a "techno" artist? No, he doesn't, so show some respect for music and use the right term. If you don't know the term, educate yourself yea?

I can agree that very specific genres have a purpose, when they assist people in finding music they enjoy. However, when genre labels are taken as insults, I think it can lead to divisions within music communities. However, argument *against* such labeling isn't enjoyable to read either, which is why I've deleted my previous comments.

I stated, in length, to use the right term so it shows respect to the artist and to the genre, and helps you understand what you might want to look for in the future. You won't go to a Mexican restaurant and ask "Hello sir, could I get one large mexican food?" He'll look at you and wonder if you've passed puberty and developed your frontal lobe, and will tell you, "there is a menu, idiot, please take a look and order a specific thing" Same thing here :)
