Man its way to cool to see people restoring old vintage snowmobiles ...my cousin has several Olympiques from 1966 to 1969 and there one 1968 restored...its a beauty ! ....im looking for a one between '66 and '69 too... for a Project aslo ;)
I just picked up a 1969 Ski-Doo Olympic and a 1970 just like yours. I plan to restore both. I'm a novice with these machines so I have some quick questions. On both of the sleds their is the decompressor. What is that for and is it essential for starting the sleds? I see both use to have a place for keys to start them up. Is that also for startup and if not how should I start them otherwise?
@donnybaj Decomp is to let a little compression leak out of the cylinder when starting. makes it easier to turn over. Almost as easy to start without using it. Yes it is for start up.

where did you get the engine

The engine was on the sled when it came in to be restored. They made a lot of them with that motor in 1970
