  • Awesome Gavin!

For the Actions you can assign an F (function) key when you create the action. This way will save some clicks and moves - just pres the F key.

For the Blending Options/fx/Layer Style you can save time by right clicking on the layer with fx -> Copy Layer Style, then hold Shift, click on the first layer without fx and last one, then right click -> Paste Layer Style

  • thankss alot

this is a great video and effect :D

  • Awesome effects and nice step by step turtorial. Very nice. Thanx....

  • you can either do that or do filter, stylize, extrude.

  • Need help - my grid appears very large - like double your size - so only 6 cubes in the photo. I have tried this 3 ties saving as a new pattern - still so luck. What am I doing wrong? thanks

  • I love your voice Mr. Gavin :) Your tutorials are great.

  • when i do press play its just doing first square all the time.

  • amazing this is what i've been looking for!

and i've also learnt a lot from you! auto-select, actions, that easy FX thing! and a way to take advantage of texture!

    thanks a bunch mate!

  • great tutorial.. easy to follow... thanks a million

  • After going through most of your tutorials..You know why I like you so much Gavin?

Every step you do, you make the effort of giving a little description about it. Eg: changing blending mode to Screen turns anything black to transparent.

That's what a tutorial is all about. Actually learning how to apply the techniques to different projects & reaching your own results instead of just knowing how to duplicate what one sees.

    Much respect from Dubai.

  • JEJEJEJE ORIGINAL.

    THANKS.

  • Very nice tutorial.

I think you should have mentioned the hotkey option for "actions", though. Instead of hitting play every time to do the action, which in itself is quite repetitive, you can assign almost whatever key you want, to act as a hotkey for that unique action you just made.

Also, when darkening some of the layers, I found the 3D effect to be more obvious, if you only darken the layers at the bottom of the layers panel. And maybe even lighten some of the layers at the top.

  • Awesome 100% lifesaver BTW all ur tuts are great

  • i love your voice

  • I've got a problem with the grid, when i fill the new layer with it the grid doesn't appears.

I hope someone read this and help me.

    Excellent tutos, keep working ;)

PD: I've got Adobe Photoshop CS3

  • Master...

  • Gracias. Hay más?

  • thank u Gavin, u are really, really GOOD teacher!!!

  • Thanks Gavin.

    A real help. =)

  • i know this is an old tut.. but im havin a lil trouble.. i was woundering what size the picture u started wit was.. because im not gettin the grid right .. so im thinking my starting pitchure is way tooo small.. if some one sees this and has any help .. many thanks to u for the time.. =-)

  • @HellzNemesis Well theres about 7 by 5 grids seen when he's filled the layer in so we can guess its just [500pixles x 7] by [500pixels x 5]. So the original would've been about 3500pixels by 2500 pixels (plus that little extra bit he had before cropping) Hope I helped and goodluck with the photoshopping ;D

  • thank you =-) yes it did.. =*)

  • @HellzNemesis yup, the grid pattern should be made on a canvas much smaller than the initial pic... so for a 1000x1000 pic, we could use a 200x200 grid to get 25 pieces. either use some math or trial and error for getting what u want

  • At 8:00, you can speed things up a lot by copying the layer style by right clicking the layer and selecting the copy layer style option toward the bottom, then select all the layers you want to apply that effect to, and then paste the layer style to all those layers simultaneously by right clicking and selecting the paste layer styles option.

  • i got all the steps until where you fill the layer and you click on the grid 500...on mine it doesnt show the layer that i saved, im not sure wat i did wrong cuz i did everything right....

  • that was sooo helpful thankyou :)

    you are a great teacher!

  • To copy the layer effect faster just right click on the layer with the effects select Copy Layer Effects , select the next one, hold Shift key and select the last one, right click and Paste layer effects, a lot faster ... just a tip.

  • MANCHESTER UNITED..........OOh, wait wrog video, But, this is a nice video.
