OK, that's nice. Now other computers can catch up to the Apple iPhone. (And the Apple MacBook Air, just announced two days ago.)
What I want to know is, why is that guy using *TWO HANDS*? Isn't it more convenient to use the thumb and forefinger, as the trackpad was designed for?
I give this video only two stars because it's nothing *that* new and the demonstrator doesn't know what he's doing.
I love trackpads. At first I didn't, but when I got my laptop, I decided that I needed to get used to it, or else carry around a mouse and look for a place to put it down and push it around. Using the built-in trackpad is more convenient. I am glad they are making new developments like this.
Although the XO laptop for the OLPC project sucks in a lot of ways, I like its trackpad. It has a section for writing with a stylus and it includes handwriting recognition.
what a useless feauture, that stuff only works well for designers and people with lots of time on their hands.Instead of making faster computers, they bing these useless stuff that kids should be playing with. Why would i waste time changing images upside down on my laptop?
i love my pc. i use for a wide range of activities and it never fails , why to get ana apple , i love my Vista 4 GB and solid state drive, i had troubles when i first got it , but i fixed em .
A rather gimmicky approach to trackpads. Things like zooming can usually be done with the mouse wheel anyways, which can be virtualized on a trackpad. Also, I don't see this being useful at all until it is supported across many applications, as opposed to the single shown demo application.
apple macpro 8-core quad Xeons at 3.2 Ghz, $4399 US; Dell - Dell Precision 7400 8-core quad Xeons at 3.16 $4900 US
Leopard beats the daylights out XP for raw speed, responsiveness and pure performance. Put it head to head with Vista with 4 GB RAM, and you'll understand immediately. The 8-way Mac at my office will smoke anything you could build (and I've built over 5000 PCs).
geez with Leopard out now for buying, you are better off with a PC. they are faster and better in every way. it is just a matter of getting the right one for your purpose (oh and size doesn't count on PCs, i'll give the Macs that, but that's it)
umm, no you can't... pc hardware is not supported in mac os x, so in order to get it to work you would need to hunt down drivers (or make them yourself). it would not run at full speed. because the software support just isnt there.
by windows with bootcamp on a mac, apple provides all the drivers necessary in windows so it does run at full speed. i am sure of this because i have done gaming benchmarks.
I take back my comment about Bootcamp is inconvenient. It *does* have its uses. Playing games or running other highly resource intensive applications are good reasons. Doing those under Parallels might not work as well with two OSes sharing the resources. (Although, *without* CPU emulation.)
Why run Bootcamp at all? I think that's one inconvenient piece of software. Buy Parallels Desktop and use that instead. With the Coherence feature, Mac and Windows windows coexist on the same screen. I run Windows on my Mac a couple times a month in order to use the one application required at my office for which I couldn't find a Mac substitute.
you know that there is nothing special about an apple right? it is just a matter of programming, but when you talk about hardware, and what a pc can do, it blows the pants off any mac and i have the pc to prove it.
Prove it, then! Put up your video of a fair and balanced test between your best computer running the latest version of Windows Vista and a Mac with similar specifications running the latest version of Mac OS X. Then run the same applications on both. Maybe you're right and your Windows machine will win, but until you prove it, it's all just talk. As they say, put up or shut up.
Yes, Macs are more expensive, but it's worth it to not have to deal with Windows.
Ever heard of the Dell Precision series? They can take quad core xeon, as much ram as the mac pro, dual quadro or dual fire gl, and as much hd as you can fit in the case so please SHUT THE FUCK UP. the Mac PRO is exactly that a PROfessional workstation and as such is not unique. You have no idea of what you're talking about.
A pretty dumb idea. I can do ZOOM in and out with ONE FREAKING FINGER as of today, i.e. the scroll thinge on the pad. So why the F would i want to use TWO fingers??? I'm lazy to begin with remember?!

I like what Apple put into the MacBook Pro that I use daily. It's a great piece of equipment. It's reliable and I use it for weeks without rebooting. But the new MacBook Air has missed the mark in a lot of ways and I will never buy an iPod as long as they don't have easily replaceable batteries.
Does my appreciation of good technology, the MacBook Pro, make me a "fanboy"? No. I just loathe NS Windows.
If others want to call me an Apple fanboy, it's better than being a slave to MS Windows.
the point is macs are better but after seeing the last keynote of Bill I shall use xp more often on my macbook pro...seriously I think the touch-pad technology is rather cool also on a PC

why? instead of running bootcamp on macs, you can just do a dual boot on a regular PC and have Leopard and xp or vista running at full speed.

not sure if you would understand, so to put it into layman's terms, it will kick the living crap out of any Mac for about 500 bucks less.
