The tenor player is Barney Wilen (March 4, 1937–May 25, 1996). He was favourite of american musicians in the 50th when it was about to hire a local French tenor player. Should you dig Miles Davis like his soundtrack for the movie "Ascenseur pour l'Échafaud", it is Barney Wilen who plays the saxophone part. He was so famous in France that the comic artists Jacques de Loustal and author Philippe Paringaux paid homage to his life in their comic "Barney et la note bleue".
Thanks what a great post. Who is the tenor player? I love music of all kinds but this was one of the greatest periods of music in the world. I have actually come to appreciate the very short solos of the early bop era.
