  • This video is super biased. I took accutane for six months. The drastic side-effects are extremely rare and I never experienced them. There are a lot of other people I know who have taken it and never experienced any side-effects as well. My acne has been cleared up and I have beautiful skin for several years now. In my personal opinion, the positive benefits outweigh the negative. Again, the side-effects are super rare and occur in people who already have had mental and emotional problems.

  • Firstly, you are beautiful & I love watching your videos. If there were such a thing as a miracle drug, Accutane was definitely mine. I never had any kind of suicidal or psychological thoughts

  • just stated my accutane (claravis) journey yeaaaa

  • If you have severe acne the medication is fabulous if taken correctly. Very low dose over longer period of time = Less side effects. I took it when I was 35. If they put my teen on it I would watch him very close for signs of depression and joint pain. Older folks, depression and blood cholesterol levels and liver enzyme levels. The key is very strict monitoring by your family and physician.

  • I did 2 rounds of accutane. Round 1 was heaven & hell together. A 6 mth treatment with a higher dose. Skin change was remarkable! No more breakouts, even blackheads were gone!! Unfortunately depression was SEVERE, just short of suicide. I'm an RN, I researched the med thoroughly before I took it. I knew the side effect but my skin was so beautiful I wouldnt stop taking it. Had some minor flares afterwards so did round 2 over a yr and with much lower dose. No emotional problems this time.

  • i was on a low dose for three years and it helped my skin and changed my life for the better. the only side effects i experienced were dry lips...if people get depressed on it then it's obviously a pre-existing mental condition, i can say firsthand that nothing about the drug makes you depressed. i just think people should learn their shit before speaking.

  • One of my side effects beside dry skin and lips is that I get nose blood. Like, I literally yesterday stood and spoke with my sister and suddenly I felt a flood coming out of my nose and saw her terrified looks, haha! It happens to be about once everyday and I'm not even touching my nose. Just not hoping it'll happen when I go out and drive with my driving teacher!

  • @Cathiina you can use a q-tip to apply Vaseline to the inner part of the nose to keep it hydrated and it should reduce the nose bleeds.

  • @mschelsyf my dr gave me a sample of this gel called ayr and i put it in my like vaseline in morning and b4 i go to bed and i havent had a nose bleed since i started using it and i'm on accutane right now. vaseline wasnt rly working for me

  • @LaDeDa1204 That's great! I'm starting accutane next week, so it's great to have a heads-up about this stuff!

  • @mschelsyf :) good luck you can message me if you have any questions i'm starting my 4th month tomorrow the redness sucks but i've deffently seen some improvement. its rly not as bad as i thought it was gunna be as they say but that may be because of all the vitimins my uncle told me to take that help with the side effects.

  • In the UK it's called Roaccutane and I'm so happy I went on it ,I started getting acne since I was 9 and went on it when I was 14.it's weird but while I was on it I felt happy just because I could see it was doing something to my skin. I haven't been on it for a year now and my acne hasn't come back

  • @3motionbabe Hahaha, that's funny, I also can't imagine how to get depressed when on this medication. It's great to wake up each morning and see that your skin actually could be beautiful.

  • @DiamondsAndHeels14 do u have a boyfriend?

  • and accutane changed my life.

  • I've been on accutane for nearly 4 months now. My dosage ends in 3 weeks and i've had minimum dry lips/skin. Bad side effects are so rare.

  • I love you.. <3

I've had acne since like.. primary school (13-13ish) and i recently went on Roaccutane (UK name)

For anyone who is thinking about using it; It's been about 2 months for me and i've seen an amazing difference! my acne is pretty much gone. But I feel 50 years older than I am and I'm constantly dehydrated and tired and irritable also I cant drink and that is rubbish.. But its worth it! I swear I would recommend it (as a last resort obv) you wont see any results in the first month :(

  • Accutane is still legal in Australia. I went on it and only had dried nose, lips etc. No real bad side effects and now I NEVER get pimples.Accutane saved my life!

  • 10:50 that can kill your kidneys yo!!

  • I did accutane and it was the most amazing thing ever.

  • A lot of my family members and friends have been on accutane and have all had success stories and no depression or any of that so don't get scared if you have horrible acne see if you can go on it and if a problem occurs stop taking it

  • I was on accutane for 2 months .. side effects I went through were back pain, depression, dry eyes, dry mouth, dry skin all over basically , also had some severe depression and suicidal thoughts I must say. It was 3 years ago I must say it completely cleared my acne and didn't get acne even when I stopped taking it .. my skin used to be really oily .. no it's more dry/comination .. it's very expensive as I took the brand one before it was discontinued.

  • i have a success story with roaccutane....only suffered extreme dryness and i ahd extreme oily skin before nothing mental...took it for 4 months...my skin is getting balanced again...hair getting oily again...so it doesnt permanently harm your oil glands...but my horrible hormonal acne is totally gone =D i hope it stays that way now

  • i have a success story with roaccutane....only suffered extreme dryness nothing mental...took it for 4 months...my skin is getting balanced again...hair getting oily again...so it doesnt permanently harm your oil glands...but my horrible hormonal acne is totally gone =D i hope it stays that way now

  • I've wanted Accutane sooooo bad for the longest time but not a single dermatologist will prescribe it to me. I have the oiliest skin and largest pores ever, and in my opinion its waaaay worse than my acne ever was!! But dermatologists don't think my skin is bad enough, so I will probably have to live with this curse for the rest of my life. :( No one understands how badly my skin has effected my life!

  • when i went on accutane my skin became normal finally because my skin was so oily before, i barely had any dry skin at all. once or twice my lips got chapped but they never cracked or anything horrible.

  • I was on accutane for six months and it literally got rid of all of my acne problems :) I have scars now but that's only due to me picking at my skin for five years..

Point being, the only side effects I ever had were two nose bleeds, dry skin/lips and yep...that was it :) also I'm not sure why webmd is classifying those side effects as 'severe' when they're really not.......its free in the uk too! so i recommend seeing a gp :)

  • I went on Accutane two times! Once in middle school and then in high school again because my acne came back. It worked wonders on me after going on it the second time....the only down side is i was very big into volleyball, and freshmen year i got a stress fracture in my lower back that will never fully heal. After watching this i wonder if it may have been caused by Accutane rather than volleyball....?

  • Yes this is so true!! You are so inspirational, and I so so so agree with the whole "Treat the problem, not the symptoms" thing. I've had acne since I was 11 years old, and I'm now 22, while it's not as bad as it used to be, I still struggle with breakouts and lots of blackheads and I have very large pours in my cheeks. Thank you for putting yourself out there so other people can get help :)

  • i had accutane at the age of 16. it really really helped with my acne. it was like a miracle - i felt soooo confident and happy and everything. but all the bloodtests all the time, all the side effects - i went off after 4 or 5 months. now, 10 years later i am having horribly dry skin. i am not sure if would take it again if i was 16 again.

  • What happens if you only take ONLY ONE PILL?

  • @ArtistWonders Nothing... At least in my case I took accutane for a week and saw no difference... Today is my 20th and my lips are a bit dry, but almost nothing, then even though I still have pimples, my skin is feeling freakin' smooth! It's incredible, just like a baby's ass. :D

  • accutane is still legal in canada, im on it as we speak and love love love it

  • I'm being put on this and now I'm terrified.. great.

  • all this talk about her being biased has to stop.

Honestly, she listed what COULD happen. She didn't say it will happen to everyone 100%. These are side affects that can possibly arrive while on Accutane.

Jesus christ guys. Calm your tits.

  • I TOOK IT FOR 3 MONTHS, I HAD TO TAKE IT FOR 6.. I COULDNT HANDLE THE CHAPED LIPS AND DRY FACE.. MY LIPS BLEEDED DURING CLASS

  • i went on accutane for 1 month and it made a DIFFERENCE... anything beyond that i would have been screwed....

  • I went on accutane and it saved my life! I am acne-free and super happy nowdays!! (:

  • I this this video is extremely biased. I'm on Accutane and none of the side effects have happened to me. I know people that went on Accutane and for most, oil comes back, and not the acne. Which is what I want. I don't get my blood tested weekly. I know some do, most likely because the doctors see a reason to keep them on check. I dont have dry skin. I get flaky with over washing, but that's about it. Blood DOES flow to my face, do produce oil on my face, bones are fine, not on birth control.

  • @prettysmilen Oh... and I was never "sad". Still the same me, and somewhat happier due to the raised self-esteem. Really... don't believe everything you read on the net. My derm is someone I know personally, and together, all has been good. I couldn't be more happier with the results.

  • Also, wouldn't trust the internet on everything about this. Talk to your dermatologist, guys!

  • Oh and your video is an exaggeration of what accutane can do...your being biased because you can't take it yourself...just saying

  • @99dolce For sure! In addition, the US is much much more strict with prescribing the drug- in europe is not such a big hazzel to get on it. My derm said that many doctors of the older generations are still hung up in the 80's way of thinking of the drug- as dangerous. Being aware of the side effects that can occure, doctors are now able to treat them correctly if they should arrive.

    I wouldn't worry too much:)

  • accutane worked amazing for me and I only had to use it for 4 months !! I used 40 mg ,2 capsules a day

I had one blood test per month

dry eyes, dry nose, and dry skin ( mostly on my hands)

I had no other side effects other than a little bit of hair loss

I didn't have to use any kind of birth control..

But overall accutane was the best thing I ever did..nothing else was working ( I tried everything) and now I have absolutely no acne ...its a miracle drug !!

  • the video is not loading half way

but ok to come to the point

roaccutane is still allowed in Europe for some reasons

i ve used it on and off for 3 years in total almost, had loads of blood test, really dry lips, sometimes bleeding nose, and dry skin on overall body

never had side effects like depression...

    i use the 20mg one

thats about it for my experience...

  • i took two rounds of accutane when i was 15/16. I already had depressive and anxiety disorder and was on medication for it. I don't know if that made things worse for me or not because frankly, it was a long time ago lol what i do know is, it states to stay out of the sun. I was 15 and thought, eh whatever. I regret it to this day! I now have scars on my chest/shoulders from how bad of a burn I got just from camping one night, even with sunblock. It did help my acne a lot though!

  • @SheilaBettyCakes i should also note that my depression is about the same as it always was, but sadly i have no insurance so i have no medication. But, my anxiety, "quirks", and OCD-ness, over the years, gradually has gotten worse. Again, I can't say if it was that, cause it was 10 years ago or so, and i was never told or heard of those issues back then. I do remember all the blood tests I had to take and the birth control for precautions though.

  • I am a girl and I was on it when I was 12 but the birth control I was on was abstinence which wasn't a problem because I was 12... But I still had to take annual pregnancy tests and sign a aper saying I would abort a baby if I were to become pregnant. I also didn't even have my period yet...

  • Does it permanently lower your dopamine levels?

  • ..about the side effects, like everyone i know, i just got really dry lips and eyes. my hair got really bad too. i think im a little more ''sad'' then how i was, but im not really sure.. cause 2011 was a stressful year for me anyway. when i searched for roacutan on the internet i didnt want to take it, it took a about 6 months for my doctor to make me realize that i needed it. now im so happy that i took it! its amazing, everyone should give it a try (if they are ''candidates'', obviously)

  • i take accutane (really is roacutan here in brazil haha) since march of 2011, ill be taking it till next month. im SO GLAD i didnt watch this video when you posted it, cause id be so scared!! the first few months are terrible, you get even more skin. but after like 5 months your skin starts to improve and it gest soooo good! i have no acne right now, and i used to have in the face and the back, like you! but im still taking the medicine to make sure it wont come back.

  • Let's talk about you . Sweet Lady ;)

  • ive been one accutane for 6 months and a ton of the information you gave was false

  • my 20 yr old brother took accutane for 3months and his face looks great.we are the only 2 members in my family who suffer from acne and he recommended me to take accutane as my cream im currently taking (duac) isnt working for me anymore.he had no mental/physical side affects(apart from really dry skin which he knew was going to happen anyway)while using it however, im only 14 (turning 15 on march) :/ is there an age restriction for this drug?after watching this video i am afraid to try it :(...

  • @lordyLOURD i took accutane just last year when i was 16 and it did wonders for my skin. the only side affects for me was that it dried my skin and made my period really late but after i stop taking it my period went back to normal. The doctor explained that it was normal and thats why pregnant people can't take it. I think that because i was so happy that my skin was so clear and people kept complimenting me i didn't care about my dry skin and late period.

  • @lilymonkey95 awwww i went to the doctor yesterday asking about accutane and apparently i have to go to the dermatologist which is $250 aus just for the appointment :(. preetty disappointed because my brother only had to go to his regular GP and got cream and the accutane pills for like $14 nz :(. So for now i am on YAZ birthcontrol pills for 3 months until i can get a prescription in nz during march :((((((((((((((((. hopefully the YAZ pills will clear my face to save the hassle tho .___.

  • @lordyLOURD awww.. that really sucks. thats way damn expensive than here in malaysia. I really hope your skin clears up soon and just believing that you look good makes your skin better. Its just a theory but it works for most cases :)

  • "like a triangle" haha

  • I have nodular acne and I'm also on accutane medication though i'm just taking the isotretinoin (the generic medicine). I've been taking it for 6 months already, taking it at the highest dosage of 40 mg 3 times a day. So far I have less acne at the back but still having breakouts in my face. My face is no longer oily and it got better than before i was using it. Side effects were chronic back pain, decrease night vision, headaches from time to time and severe dry lips.

  • ...What really scared me is when I went to the dermatologist, she, as a first ever prescription strength treatment tried to push me onto Accutane. No asking questions, extra tests, or hesitation. I was baffled because most jump through hoops--blood tests, contraceptives, questions etc., but not me at 14. I really want to switch from this dermatologist, but my doctor says I shouldn't :( One more visit before I make up my mind. Thanks so much! You are fantastic!! <3 Beautiful & smart, muah!

  • If you were a candidate, would you go on accutane?

  • I used to have acne like yours in the flawless foundation routine. I've been on Accutane 6 month cycle twice. The check ups are every month with pregnancy tests every month and a blood testing. My body has changed from being on that strong medicine with my joints hurting. The medicine completely got rid of my back acne and my face acne. Now not being on it for another 3 months, my acne is starting to come back..

  • Accutane is not for everybody and I don't think it's good for anyone to take it because it can cause serious depression. Just go to your ob-gyne if you have acne coz sometimes hormonal imbalance maybe the root cause of your frequent breakouts.

  • Oh btw, even Tylenol if you take a high dose of it can kill you! I recommend anyone worried about accutane side-effects to discuss a low dosage of it with their derm, for a period of about 8 months or so. Trust me, you won't regret it.

  • Yeah it can cause alot of crazy side effects. But 95% hardly ever happen. I took this a year ago, and my skin it's flawless. Not bragging, but its true. This medicine is amazing, it changed my life. Im more social, have a boyfriend, way more friends, and am not cooped up in my house all day because of my cysts. I think YOU should consider taking it, if you're afraid of side-effects just take a low dose for a longer period of time like I did. Bad side effects only happen to those taken HIGH doses.

  • i love u!

  • I started RoAccutane today and i got all these sheets of information. "Roaccutane affects the oil glands of the skin, causing them to become smaller and produce less oil. This specific effect on the oil gland continues once the drug is stoped for about three to four years." therefore your glands go back to normal after a while, which should mean no ageing problems or no long term effects glands? Which means Roaccutane if successful with no bad side effects should not be a problem?please respond

  • i would say its diet too, because i think your digestive track it's weaker that normal and its harder to digest food, and the liver gets overdriven and it creats spots. just my opinion. x

  • i'm on it and its pure hell, but i really hope it doesnt come back, but the only bad side effects is the really dry and flaky lips, its disgusting but it better be worth it :)

  • Firstly, i think you're great and I love your videos!!

I have tried Roaccutane not once, not twice but THREE times. Basically, it worked wonderfully the first time but kept coming back. I think the bottom line is take it if you want to take it, but if you have any doubts whatsoever then don't. For me it worked for a little while, but in the end i might as well not have even tried. Having said that, when it was working I had so much more confidence - something I didnt have before.

  • Honey even though you're right in some of terms, just to clarify cuz i did take isotretinoin by claravis as well, a) you're sweat glands aren't part of you're sebaceous glands, sebaceous excrete sebum that lubricates you're skin, sweat glands excrete sweat and you don't stop sweating if you're on isot., but your sebaceaous glands do dry up

  • i am 12 and i have terrible acne and i hate it i just want answers adn for it to be gone

  • i was also on accutane but wasn't able to finish it all because my insurance stopped covering it but for the time being it made my skin soo good! although i didnt get to finish it, my skin stayed super clear for some months, unfortunately its back now though :/ didnt really get any side effects besides my skin being SOOOO DRY. it seemed not enough lotion in the world could hydrate my skin, that was the only downside for me.

  • I love what you are saying here!!!! I took accutane when I was a young girl (12-14). While in high school my acne came back and now at 24 its still here. Well the "reason" I have acne (at least one reason) is because I have PCOS (Polycystic Ovarian Syndrom), a hormonal imbalance.HMMM wonder if accutane had anything to do with it. Any way, thank you for all that you do here on youtube.

  • Is that a GuitarPro icon I see in your computer? Are you a musician?

  • I did also found my diet changed afterwards, doctor recommended a low GI diet. When i went off the accutane, i felt great, very healthy and had no sugar cravings whatsoever. in fact i was turned off sugar and can say, when i eliminate processed foods and sugar from my diet i dont get outbreaks.

  • I went on Accutane for 8 months. It dried up all the sebum in my body, my hair stayed cleaner and had super dry lips. I didnt get any other side effects i as fine. after 6 months my skin turned perfect and had it for 2 years. However, it did come back. both my mum and dad have overactive sebum so i have a genetic disposition to acne. My doctor told me 80% never get it again after 1 treatment, 10% do a second treatment. There will always be 10% uncurable.

  • I just started accutane about 2 and a half weeks ago. I was having lots of trouble with a yeast infection on my face, chest and back (not completely the same as what you may be thinking). Yeast is just a pathogen that's on everyone's skin and it can get under it if any break in your skin occurs, and once it's in, it's really hard to get it out. Luckily, the yeast is almost all gone and now I just have normal acne :) The major side effect that has hit me is the back aches.

  • I've been on accutane for 10 weeks now, and I'm starting to see a big difference! I would also like to have sex with you.

  • I've been on accutane since the day I started 16 , i've been on it for 3 and a half months and still get called ugly

  • ok guys, anyone who goes on accutane knows that obviously its a horrible drug but its a miracle the way it makes u look after. obviously, there's a huge system u have to go through with signing papers n such so the dermatologist cant get sewed and theres no reliability. u MUST get a blood test eveyr month (this is so they can see if its making your insides messed up or not) and u have to go onto 2 diff types of birth control. it made my skin flawless but im getting acne back, its been 2 yrs

  • you should be a doctor! you are great at explaining things and you are friendly and nice!

  • I had extremely bad acne before I went on accutane and it cleared up my skin 100% After I stopped taking accutane it's been about 4 years and my acne is slowly starting to come back so I have to go back on accutane. Being on accutane for 5 months every 4 or 5 years is completely worth it to me because I am miserable and self-conscious with my acne. Accutane is an amazing drug. The only side effects I experienced were the dry skin, lips, and my back would ache a little bit but it was no big deal

  • @SarahPrincess I am also very thankful that I went on the internet to look up possible acne treatment. with the support of the testimonies and reviews, I faithfully followed the program and after 3weeks of doing it, it worked beautifully.. I started to notice healing within 5days.. Anyway, Its the site StopAcneNow.co.cc Im talking about..

  • has birth control helped your acne or have you not tried that? it didnt help me at all so i guess im not hormonally imbalanced but i hear it can help alot of people

  • you are sooo cooooool, great tips

  • I took Roaccutane and it was magical for me, no side effects aside from the dryness on my lips. Thank God.

  • @gus0016 And it was a six month treatment. I thank God for it.

  • orange much ?

  • isotretinoin didnt work for me, it really caused depression on me and blood problems, but didnt fix my hormonal acne at all, no difference

  • what about antibiotics or orthotricycline?

  • Having said that, my skins more or less back to its original state now. So I am contemplating requesting another low dosage course. It is a hassle though because of the risks if you get pregnant and it can be anti-social as you can't really drink alcohol which can mean you miss out at weddings, parties, Xmas etc - it's nice to have a few drinks :)

  • Interesting video. I came off Roaccutane last August after 9 months on it. It was a miracle drug for me as nothing else has worked since I was 12 (now 21). Only side effects I experienced were very dry lips and bad heat/shaving rash. I only worried a lot about the horror of getting pregnant by accident and having caused damage to my child. (Note: You can't give blood when you're on Roacctuane either in case the blood ends up going to a pregnant woman whose fetus it would damage).

  • I went on Roaccutane when I was 16 years old, a course of about 6 months. There's no doubt that I had become slightly more depressed than usual but I coped with it.Miraculously my skin cleared but unfortunately after the course my skin gradually got worse over the next few years. My dermatologist wouldn't give me anymore so I bought some generic Accutane online for a course of 4months.This was a year ago & like before my skin cleared whilst I was on it but after coming off it, it's got worse again

  • I was on medication for 2 years but the brand name is acnetrex. Yes, it did cleared my acne for a year but after that it went back and my hormones went CRAAAAZY. I had very bad acne after that, it includes scarring and looked so awful. I went to a dermatologist again but everytime I'll stop the medication it will get worse again. Now, I STOPPED medication I just now use ERASE(tretinoin) to apply on my scars I don't take ORAL MEDICATIONS. I will never do ORAL MEDICATIONS AGAIN...

  • Thank you so much for making that amazing video!! I am taking accutane and you were able to explain everything so well. Your explanations were more clear than any dermatologist I've seen.

I can also give my feedback on accutane. I started 1 month ago and my sking got a lot more dry still breaking out a bit but less than before. Lips and body are very dry. About the depression thing, I am not depressed but some days I feel more unhappy, but it's no big deal. I'll let you know once Im done with it

  • I'm so amazed at the way you are able to explain this in a way that makes sense, but you definitely sound like you know what you are talking about. You will be a great dermatologist :)

  • Yes!! I completely agree with doctors/dermatologists needing to find the source of your acne before treating their patients. I've struggled with acne since the age of 11, and recently begun taking birth control. This will theoretically regulate hormone levels and hypothetically improve problematic acne. Dry skin and breaking out aren't that great of a combination.

I also wanted to say thank you so much for all of your videos and how educated you are on these topics and sharing that knowledge. ♥♥

  • Hello Cassandra! After a medical check-up, I went on ISDIBEN (isotretinoin) for 15 months. I had to have blood tests every three months and visit the doctor because of my liver and the side effects. It was long, but my skin and hair look like new now.

Congratulations for your videos! They're very useful and you're brave, charming and beautiful.

  • i personally would much rather have dry lips and back pain for six months, rather than have zero self esteem and confidence for a much longer period of time. accutane made me much more comfortable in my skin that now i never feel the need to wear makeup to school or around my friends. of course the side affects are different for everyone, but those who can take it and have no other hope, this is a life changer.

  • I went on accutane. I gotta say it's made my skin flawless, however the side-effects are very VERY real. While I was on it, my liver enzymes went up twice. Once during the 3rd month and then during the 5th. Since it was only a 6 month course, I stuck with it to finish but my dermatologist warned me that this could damage my liver, however it didn't everything returned to normal after the course.

  • you're taking all of the EXTREMELY rare side effects, and stating that it WILL happen when you take accutane.

  • I took accutant, low dose for 8 months. Its been over 2 years since I took my last pill. I am still acne free, happy and healthy.

  • That stuff is so not true, not for everyone! Aspirin has more side-effects than Roaccutane! It just depends on how your organism reacts on certain stuff, and what are your predispositions-genetic and hormonal! If one is depressed in the first place, and hears that kind of a b-shit like "roaccutane makes you suicidal", of course that will affect on him! With every drug there should be precautions! Cosmetic companies hate roaccutane because it reduced the acne-creme sales!!! Hello!

  • why do i feel u is a doctor or a med student ??!!! lol

  • Try getting prescribed to the Antibiotic Minocycline!

  • i'm now on accutane like a month. I have really chapped lips and my back hurts so much. But I see definitely improvement! my forehead is clear now !

  • Accutane is amazing. I ate it for six months and have no acne left. (Ended the cure for like one year ago). I had some side effects tough. My back got really stale and my skin dried up really bad. But it was totally worth it! :)

  • I have acne as well and decided (with my dermatologist) to go on Accutane. It made my skin absolutely beautiful but it screwed me up mentally. I had to stop treatment because I started to get terrible anxiety problems. I'm posting this because I am an example of the horrible side effects this "miracle" drug brings and I know others who have become anxious or very depressed from it. Be careful when starting up a potentially dangerous treatment, even if the risks are low!

  • @beautyistoxxic I am soooooooo glad, I came across your post. I think I know what my problem is! I've been dealing with unexplainable anxiety and never did I think it could be my acne treatment! Not once! Thank you so much for sharing. I am calling my dermatologist first thing tomorrow morning! Thank you...This was such a big deal for me and it's been bugging me for weeks as to why I now all of a sudden deal with anxiety!

  • @PixieGone You're welcome! I hope things get better for you.

  • @beautyistoxxic When I was on it I got really depressed and moody but it went away after 3 weeks

  • @VelvetGlam92 Unfortunately my anxiety has not gone away. Since accutane I have had panic attacks. I'm really glad yours has subsided, though!

  • Accutane made me a happier person. Before I was so self conscious about my acne I would get miserable whenever I went out with friends because I felt like a monster, after just 6 months of accutane I can go out without any make up at all. If you told me I'd be able to go around without any make up at all I'd never believe it, the side effects are minimal compared to the benefits.

  • check out JULIEN RAE the perfect me

  • I took Accutane (brand name) in 2001, while i had excellent acne results for nearly 7 years, I also developed crohn's disease. I was not warned of IBD as a side effect, and it is part of the label now. Not saying that I would have headed the warnings and not taken it, but it is a possiblity. My cystic acne has come back, but I can manage it with topical Retin-a, spirolactone, and ton's of water intake.

  • iam on roaccutane and have been on it now for 3 months you do tend to get flair ups while on it as iam atm having a flair up where i have lumps on the skin and havnt been going to school because of it as i get very consious i hope to see an improvment soon the dermatologist said that my skin should be clear by feb.The side effects i have got while on it are dry lips, dry eyes, swollen eyes, flair ups, achey musles but not to bad. sorry for all spelling mistakes lol

  • I posted a video response on my accutane experience but I don't see it anywhere. Anyway I decided to video myself talking about accutane because I took the medication but the experience was not so great.

  • cassandra i love your story, but please do less hhhhhmmmmm hhhhhmmmm!!!! irritating. ..

  • ACCUTANE literally changed my life. I'm 18, have very oily skin and started getting cystic acne and normal zits in 6th grade. I was on accutane for about a year and a half. I stopped taking accutane about 2 years ago and my skin is STILL less oily than before. The people who say don't take accutane are people who HAVE NEVER BEEN ON IT. get a good dermatologist that will wean you on and off the medication, it is safer that way.

  • @ohshtdood "The people who say don't take accutane are people who HAVE NEVER BEEN ON IT.

Not a truer word has been spoken!

  • accutane or whatever it is Never!!! 100% never!!! you might not notice side effects now but they will come out in a future!!!

  • I want to go on accutane. I've had acne since 6th grade and I'm a freshman in college now. I've literally tried everything under the sun: over the counter, prescribed, topical, ingested, etc. and I feel like my acne has only gotten worse, especially since I've gotten to college. What I'm concerned about is my alcohol consumption. I go out and drink at least three times a week and I don't know if accutane and alcohol can mix together. Does anyone know anything about this?

  • @xblinkx182xgm

Good question for a pharmacist but what I do know is that if your drinking is so crucial to you that you can't just drink lemonade or something for a few months you should consider evaluation for potentially having an unrecognized alcoholic problem.

  • @xblinkx182xgm I was on accutane in high school and drank alcohol. I had no side effects. Ask the doctor though when you go in for an appointment. Make sure you find a good dermatologist in your area, one that will slowly wean you on and off the medication. (small dosage at first, then gradually getting bigger)

  • @xblinkx182xgm i'm from the UK. Your not supposed to drink more than a few units when you're on Roaccutane. You can drink in small amounts but my doctor checked my liver every month when I got my pills and if my liver showed a high concentration count they would say stop drinking or we'll have to stop the medication. Usually I'd have only had 2 or 3 drinks in the week! So basically you can't really drink. The medication seems to increase the alcohol concetration in your liver.

  • how about solidyne? I have taken that I am now on birth control, metaformin, and aldactone

  • My friend went on it about two years ago and it defiantly cleared up her skin. She just had chapped lip too

  • ACCUTANE was a scary experience for me. You would think that having baby clear skin would make me happy. For the 2 years during treatment I found myself battling depression. I'm not proud to say this but I had thoughts of killing myself. 1 year after treatment my acne is all back but my mind feels better. The cost = my job. I messed up my career for the sake of vanity. Yes, I live with the regret.

  • @TheGeochemist you should have immediately gone to your dermatologist and told them about this !! you met with them every single month right, i think that is a requirement.. while i was on it my dermatologist ALWAYS asked me how i was feeling and helped me out. sounds like you just had a shitty doctor that didn't really care......

  • @ohshtdood I did talk to him about it but he would always smile and say that my depression and the medication are unrelated. He insisted on this. I am not a doctor so I doubted myself back then. Only now, a year after taking roaccutane, I am able to see that I'm back to normal -mentally- and I am able to concentrate on work again.

  • everyone who talks abotu accutane on here doesnt know enough. YOU SHOULDNT PUT ANYTHING IN YOUR BODY THAT ISNT PROVIDED BY THE EARTH> PERIIOOOOODDDD!!!! yesssssss it may help you!!! but everything comes with a price, in this case side effects and permanent damage and changes for good. but of course humans are human, and will do as they stupidly please. just saying whats obvious. not gooooood foooorrr yooooouuuuuuuuuuuuuu.....

  • 11:38 ohhh please youre just boosting my ego

  • the lawsuits are from CRAZY people suffering from the side effect of psychosis lmao

  • I still to this day suffer from the disease, I am learning to live with it, but it's hard being a university student and dealing with the stress and all. If I knew what it would do to me, I would not have taken it.

  • Accutane worked for me throughout the treatment period (2 years and a half ago) and for a year after having stopped, and then the acne came back after a year, although less severe. A few months after stopping, I started suffering from IBS symptoms..I went through the steps of seeing a gastroenterologist, who put me on meds for a few months, which did not help in any way.

  • i got weed to make me HAPPY

  • amazing vidddd really healpfullllllllll <3

  • After I had both my children, my acne was horrible. I was 30 years old and completely depressed about it. AFter the topical methods didn't work (and they usually don't) I begged my dermatologist to begin my rounds of Accutane. It was a miracle. I just experienced the dry lips thankfully, and my acne has not returned. I am now almost 55 and wish that more people would try it and be safe about it.

  • whats your thoughts on EpiDuo gel

  • A B and C.

  • oh and yeah i have SEVERE REUMATOID THAT ACCUTANE MADE IT WORSE .

  • WERE WHERE YOU ON MY TEEN YEARS !!! :( I WENT ON ACCUTANE , I HAVENT HAD A PIMPLE SINCE HIGSKOOL BUT IT WAS THE WORSE THING EVER ....IM SO HAPPY THERE IS SOME ONE LIKE YOU SO BRAVE !

  • this is not about acutane, but none the less i started to get severe acne after i started MIRENA ( birthcontrol), doctors sometimes can be pushi and not pay attention to side effects like i had ..a year latter and severe moodswings i opted to get off birthcontrol..its been 3 years since and i still get acne mainly on my forehead, and i had to start retin-a to help with the severity of my acne .. i cant tell you how brave you are for making this videos, and i give you props for it., dont stop...

  • I was going to do Accutane as well because I had pretty bad acne and it made me so self conscious but luckily before i got on it my dermatologist but me on other medicines that worked great on me and has cleared me I now just have a little scarring that is going away slowly and now watching this video I am glad something else worked because i had the hormonal acne. so if your a girl with acne ask your dermatologist about Birth Control cause that could work too especially if its hormonal acne.

  • i love the questions you ask about WHY our hormones and sebacious glands aren't functioning properly, i completely agree. i am now 29 yrs old and still treating acne and struggling with being an adult and knowing i didn't "grow out of it." i hope you are able to become a dr and start solving these questions so we can treat the real root of the problem, not just the effects. good luck and thank you for your courage and openness in talking about acne. you're really brave.

  • i was on accutane 2x & both times my dr recommended drastic changes in my diet mostly in regards to fat (as in avoid it). the 1st time i was on it, i followed the diet and my acne improved dramatically. two years later though, i was still getting deep cystic acne so i went back on it. this time i struggled to follow the diet and found the accutane really didn't do too much. i did not have the dry, flaky skin others suffered from but i got SUPER depressed when i had my period. my mood plummetted.

  • Well I was not suicidal but I must say that my eyes are not the same anymore... they get dry easily...

  • hey there, watched several of your videos and I have just one thing to say to you. Quinoderm. Its the best and nothing else with similar ingredients works as well as it. You will have to buy online and maybe from europe but I promise you it will fix your skin. Please try it! you wont regret it!

  • Oh, and let me add, I kinda dont like this video, as you are going to scare many with acne, not to take it.

The VAST majority of those who have taken it, have been cleared of acne whilst on it, with little side effects.

That is what you should be concentrating on.

  • @Kozzy06 it's irresponsible of you to suggest that people shouldn't pay attention to potential side effects. i know MULTIPLE PEOPLE who have suffered hallucinations, depression, etc on Accutane who did not suffer from these symptoms prior to or after using Accutane. you think drug companies don't purposely downplay these symptoms? they want to make money. this is true for all medications, not just accutane. point: be aware of your body. these side effects are listed because they CAN & DO happen.

  • Ok, accutane DOES NOT cause depression or suicide, ACNE does those things.

MILLIONS of people have taken accutane and its helped them, how many have killed themselves or hurt others? A tiny, tiny amount.

Acne causes depression, hence why some who take accutane, are depressed.

  • For people with acne, Accutane is a miracle drug.

Accutane btw, started out as a cancer drug, not a drug for acne.

  • Super well summarized - Subscribed!

  • 1) you look like Lyndsy fonseca (the love interest in kick ass!)

    2) My acne taught me how much diet has to do with my flare ups. There's a really good article if you google "How to get rid of pimples and other blemishes FOREVER" by kelley eidem - he talks about yeast overgrowth sending msges to your brain which force you to keep eating sugars n carbs to feed the yeast which feed the acne. THe problem must be tackled within, topical treatments only do so much! HOpe this helps!

    Also subscribed :)

  • @Annette1030

OMG OMG OMG just saw your vid on antibiotics and now I'm SURE you need to google that article! Deff think I was meant to find u and share this knowledge with you miss!!

  • The ONLY thing that has helped my acne is taking Vitamin B complex and Magnesium daily. I tried that after reading You Are What You Eat by Gillian McKeith, where she has different recommendations depending on where you get your acne. Mine was – I repeat, WAS – the jawline area. It's gone now.

Please please please dig up her book from somewhere and give it a shot if you are having skin problems.

  • I never had any of those side effects.

  • I took accutane when I was 25 and it cleared up my acne forever. I am now 51 and have great skin. I still have oily skin but manageable. No wrinkles. I would recommend it!

  • You have made the worst choice when you took Accutane! In 60% of the women who use it, it causes sterility and/or has serious effects on the (future) baby. What they don't say is that this medicine should only be used when the patient has gland cancer. The same results can be achieved by using birth control pills.
