Perhaps that's knowledge that only musicians know, but it seems like common sense to me. A person doesn't use every aspect of their car when they use it. A person doesn't use every aspect of their brain either (if they use it at all), but apparently, Bass is THE sole exception to that rule!
Do you mind posting a video of how you pick your bass? I'm really new to playing bass, and it seems like you have a really good flowing way of picking :)...please?
Hi Alice 4016! Thanks for stopping by and commenting! I appreciate it! Yeah, I think I can fit that into my schedule. When you say 'pick,' you're referring to my right hand technique? If so, it's more of the 'double thumping tech with my own personal spins. Let me know, and I'll see what I can do! Later!
Hey SlayerKory - Thanks for stopping by and commenting - it was like $500 and something - I forget. I've been seeing a lot of used ones (4 strings at least) on the market for way cheaper. Good luck!
and im guessing thats american right? im from canada so the pricing is probably a tiny bit different but nothing to drastic im sure. its the sr505 right? hows the playability?
Yup! American (unfortunately ha!) Yes, 505 and it plays very well. Some folks tend to think the action is too high, but I've adjusted. I may lower the strings a bit one day, but I'm in no rush. I went with 'high beams' and a lighter gauge and I really love it. I might even go lighter on my next set of strings.
The soap bar dual pick up system is very conducive to 'double thumping' and rapid fire fingering. Peace!
Dravenrule100 - You're funny man! Thanks for stopping by and commenting. I think they both rock! It all boils down to taste and subjective preferences.
Hey man! I didn't get a notice of your message....? This isn't a Buckethead song - it's all impromptu playing! I was just watching his hands the whole time and I'm trying to translate some of the movements onto bass. I appreciate the comment!
Colonel Claypools Bucket of Bernie Brains is the shit, check that out man its awsome. Musically buckethead is intesnly one of a kind and his early shit eith deli creeps was fucking amazing.
I've seen them in concert too! It was one of the best shows I've ever been. Buckethead wasn't even playing the songs write and you can tell it was somewhat irking Les.
whats the point of having a five string if you only use first 4?
RandyLeeSnyderJr 3 years ago
Just because he's not using the 5th on this video doesn't means he won't use it on other tunes...

Thank you! Gawd! I get so frustrated with people sometimes man! As if one vid is reflective of my whole playing style? As if!

Lol. An instrument doesn't have to use every note or sound or string in its range for one song.
