Yes but Metroid isn't a game that would really benefit from "edgier" I can say Mario would stand a chance, grim humor in mario, tha twouldn't be to bad, The legend of Zelda series would benefit from edgier, Metroid already has you going around wiping out multiple pirates and being, even killing the same thing 3 times as well as killing your fellow bounty hunters, I think Metroid crossed Edgey already
I'm not saying it sucks I'm saying its KILLING the metroid series, not that it sucks, killing a series and sucking are two differant things, and beore you say they arn't let me say this, killing a series can mean tearing down the roots it's held in and replacing it with something it isn't, which looks like what other M is doing, instead of observing mtroid all from the first person perspective or from a sidescroling thing we wind up in 3rd person a good deal of the time here, also killing it.
On the surface, it looks like Super Mario Galaxy did that too - but nobody said anything about the space aspect ruining the platforming of Mario. So at LEAST give it a try when it comes out before saying it kills the series, ok?

They say that despite the Ninja Gaiden-esque elements, there's still going to be many elements that hearken back to Metroid classics. So if I were you, I wouldn't be too worried about this killing the series.

WOW I cant beleive it, it looks so much cool. But what really interests me is that the game looks like a remake of Super Metroid, which is all I have wanted since I played the original snes and metroid prime the story of that game rulez, I cant beleive its makin true. This looks good! I was always a fan of 3rd person games, but it also looks 1st person at 1:41. The fact that you can use all of Samus' acrobatic combat skills interests me, like from the cinematics of older games, instead of just running and shooting. I was never a fan of the morph ball either.
But just look at the cinematics! Completely emerging the player in the world of Metroid, and is that a young Samus I spot near the start? The storyline seems so much richer than the old ones.
So thats why on DS no matter how much health I sucked from the other online players with the shock coil they never died! I thought it was AR or something...

Damn! From the looks of it, this new Metroid is probably gonna kick more balls than all the past entries combined. I'm not insulting the treasured franchise's history, it's just this one's not nearly as shooting-centric (hint).
Actually she does talk in Metroid:Fusion, first you read a dialog in her head a few times and in the end she talks to the "supervisor" that is an AI, so well yes she does talk and why shouldn't she? she is after all human and her voice doesn't seem to be that bad in my opinion.
I can understand you're frustration with Metroid looking more action packed than it should, but be real this does look better visually than Prime. We'll just have to see if the gameplay can hold up to what Prime delivered.

It's not a sidescroller. You can see at various points in the trailer Samus can move in mutliple directions. It's just that certain certain camera angles in the trailer make it look like it's a side scroller.
...what the hell have they done to Metroid? This game might be fun, but...it's not Metroid, it's God of War/Ninja Gaiden starring Samus. This makes me sad.
As for the story, the bit at the end makes me think Samus ends up in an alternate reality/timeline, which fits the "Other M" subtitle. However, there's a fair chance the bit with Adam probably won't be much, other than backstory; note Samus' hair is much shorter in that scene than in others.
You can tell a fair bit from the trailers...I guess it could still be based around the exploration element that made the rest of the series awesome, but at a glance it definitely looks like a typical action/platform game, not a free-exploration style, "traditional" Metroid. It could be a damn good game, but there's not a lot there that reminded me of Metroid, other than the characters.

i think i have an i dea on why " the other m". u kno like metroid zero mission reffered to her past as her first mission ever, well, other m may refer to as metroid: other MEMORIES. if u notice, ridley and mother brain made an appearance and thats all in the past and it has to be the past cuz mother brain was killed 4 good, so the game might just recap samus' past and past missions. also, the old skool pirates came out so that can only point to the past...still cant wait 4 this game!!! :P

It's not a sidescroller. You can see at various points in the trailer Samus can move in mutliple directions. It's just that certain certain camera angles in the trailer make it look like it's a side scroller.

Guys. Look closely. This is a Super Metroid overhaul, a la Zero Mission:
-At the beginning, that's Ceres
-Green Brinstar shows up
-At exactly 2:00, mother brain is shooting a Super Metroid.

...what the hell have they done to Metroid? This game might be fun, but...it's not Metroid, it's God of War/Ninja Gaiden starring Samus. This makes me sad.
As for the story, the bit at the end makes me think Samus ends up in an alternate reality/timeline, which fits the "Other M" subtitle. However, there's a fair chance the bit with Adam probably won't be much, other than backstory; note Samus' hair is much shorter in that scene than in others.

You can tell a fair bit from the trailers...I guess it could still be based around the exploration element that made the rest of the series awesome, but at a glance it definitely looks like a typical action/platform game, not a free-exploration style, "traditional" Metroid. It could be a damn good game, but there's not a lot there that reminded me of Metroid, other than the characters.

I am shaking so much right now. This game looks effing amazing! It looks like it's based off of the manga. like when Samus was looking out the window and you see the city. Team Ninja + Nintendo? Definately did not see that one coming.
