Bump this If you've ever chased a pet around the house with your fists pointed towards the ground stomping on the floor yelling "CAST IN THE NAME OF GOD!"
I've never seen Big O 2, and I just happened to stumble onto this song. I dunno if Big O 2 is any good or not. But judging by this song ALONE, I will DEFINITELY give it a watch.
Man, hearing this makes shivers go down my spine, instantly realising why I love this anime so much again.
The big bulky mecha action is exactly how I envision large war machines duking it out for whatever the pilots reasons would be why they chose to pilot the thing in the first place. Slow placed, yet each blow that lands is a crushing one, half the time even making an impact on the storyline itself.
Awesome cast, awesome music, interesting story... Can't ask for much else. :D
The thing about "Sure Promise" and "Stand a Chance" is that they can be badass while still being slow paced. The combat sequences in Big O are the same way. With very few exceptions, the mechas in the show are big, bulky, slow, but can crush a gundam with one arm. Both the mechas and the music were designed in this way to set them apart from the gundam franchise. This particular rendition of the song is kind of a compromise between force and speed.
Gundams are real type robots, they're not much taller than 20 meters. Big O on the other hand is a super robot and can be more than twice their size. They don't call it big for nothing!
@Jonruy I agree totally, It was used on the battle with Big Duo who was a fast Big vs a very Slow Big. It was an awesome song for an awesome fight, perfect matching contrasts.
It's neither better nor worse, just more suitable for a faster-action sequence. This is Dramatic Entry right into a fight, while the other is simply the Dramatic Entry which might also stop a threat.
Agreed, this is also better than the original to me.
Well, better is not the right word, just easier to listen to regularly. The original version is the kind of song that you listen to ONCE before walking into a final exam, or an important meeting.

Add some snare drums to the bass effect going on in the background and you have an epic song.

This is climax music. Yes, i mean this in the literal sense.

Cool, I like it, but I still prefer the original version. Purely from remembering the ass-kicking the Big O dished out with it playing.

I swear to God, if the fight scenes in Gurren Lagaan has THIS music, it would make everyone's heads ah-splode from sheer GARness.

Is it weird that 00:31 to 00:43 (and the repetition later) reminds me of the boss music from something like Secret of Mana?

@Jonruy True. Many mecha fight themes have speed but no force. Big O likes to take it's time.
